[from our seattle trip]
following our breakfast at top pot doughnuts, we headed into the mountains to hike up to lake serene and bridal veil falls. [i know, breakfast of champions, right?] and boy, was it a hike! roundtrip, it’s 7.2 miles [we were sure it was farther than that!], but you gain 2000 feet in elevation on the trek… no wonder we were so out of breath! most of the elevation you gain is on the hike to lake serene. it’s very steep and very tiring, but the lake is spectacular enough to make the trip worth it. even if we did think we weren’t going to make it!
bridal veil falls is a much shorter and easier trail – THANKFULLY, since we hiked to lake serene first and thought we were going to expire! a cool, misty waterfall is always a nice reward at the end of a hike. and there’s just something magnificent about waterfalls.
the hiking took all day and we were exhausted and hungry by the end, but it was such an awesome experience. i’d love to do that kind of thing again – i’m sure it was the best workout i’ve had in a loooooong time [how else can you get a seven hour workout?! and i promise you, for at least half of that time, we were dying!]. and so many fabulous views.
below are photos of our hike up to lake serene, our hike down from lake serene, and a few of bridal veil falls. i’m saving the pictures of lake serene for another post. you know, just to add some suspense and anticipation. prepare to be amazed. ;)
stay tuned for photos of the “destination” of our hike!
