as you know, i am far behind on my posting, but there were a number of birthday celebrations that occurred this spring that i don’t want to forget!
the first was ashley’s birthday in april, just before her boyfriend guido came to america. in fact, if i remember correctly, we celebrated ashley’s birthday on friday with the girls, and that very next day, guido arrived from italy, for good. talk about an awesome b-day present. anyway, we went to one of our favorite places, the common table, for dinner and drinks – a pitcher of skittle sangria, to be exact – and then walked over to bbc for some live music [and a little dancing too!]. it was a wonderful way to spend a birthday, and the excitement of guido coming the next day made it that much sweeter.
{that crazy-looking pitcher is skittle sangria. despite the look of it in this lighting, it’s pretty tasty!}
{cheers to the pretty birthday girl!}
{we love you ash!}
angelica’s birthday followed closely behind ashley’s, also in april. [always a tongue-twister with all these a’s!] this was the rest of the group’s first time to meet guido, so it was an exciting time. we were starting the birthday celebration with dinner at max’s wine dive, so ashley and guido and i walked over from their apartment, presents in hand.
{love this couple. also, i enjoy being their third wheel ;)}
when we got there, there was a whole long table filled with people [many of whom i had met before], which made me so happy, just because moving to a new city and accumulating a circle of friends sure takes a lot of time! at least for me. even though i’d been in dallas for almost a year, i still felt like i had a lot of work to do in that department. and how wonderful for angelica, who had moved here from new york, to be surrounded by great friends on her birthday.
{the lovely birthday girl and her sweet boyfriend kevin}
{i had shrimp & grits and it was DELISH.}
the guys were all dressed in slacks and vests – their birthday gift to angelica! pretty cute, boys, pretty cute.
{obligatory pictures of the boys and girls}
{and all of us girls had to get a bathroom mirror pic!}
…and then we all went out and had the time of our lives!
{we love you gel!}
and finally, my dear mimi’s birthday at the beginning of may, which we celebrated with some shrimp and scallop tacos that my dad and mom had made together and a white cake with raspberry filling and italian buttercream that i made in culinary school [which you might remember from this post]. oh and presents, which lucky gladly opened for mimi. he’s thoughtful like that.
we missed mike at this little celebration, and it was especially hard not having papa with us. but we know papa was with us in spirit, and there’s really nothing more we can do than be thankful for the family that’s still with us. we are blessed.
{we love you mimi!}
