i started july in europe [not the worst thing in the world] ;) and when i came home, i completely immersed myself in the world cup. because futbol is my jam. it was sad day when that was over, but also a really really happy day, since germany took home that FIFA trophy! and for the rest of the month, i spent lots of time with old friends, and some new ones too. and my brother, my family… it was pretty sweet. i went to lake conroe with friends, and then went on a work trip to monterey [pics of this and pics of europe are coming soon!]. plus we had our epic french breakfast at work… ohhh july was busy busy and totally kept me on my toes, but as always, i wouldn’t have it any other way.
{this guy. after a walk at the park and on a trip to the orange store [a.k.a. home depot]. he’s my favorite.}
{this is my “i really don’t wanna go back to work after europe” face…}
{picture 1: i was lucky to have lunch AND dinner with mom and mimi [and mike too for dinner] one day when they came to dallas. we shared two fabulous pizzas [sausage & pepper + white special] and a bottle of pinot noir… we know that poor dad would have loved that pairing and we were sorry that he was on a trip and couldn’t make it. picture 2: dinner with my lovely ladies and i had this gem of a meal. and prosecco. and then we walked across the street for chocolate.}
{a dreamy new lace dress from buffalo.}
{pictures that mom and dad sent me from their tandem bike ride at peach pedal in weatherford one saturday morning. i realized then that there comes a point in time when the roles switch from parents saying how cute their kids are to kids saying how cute their parents are, and i think we’ve reached that point. because look at them! they are cute!}
{Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner, The Pope Learns Physics episode. einstein is veryyy serious and pope francis won’t stop cuttin’ up. but really, we went to a mask store in amsterdam and mom bought these for the boys. why, you ask? so that we could make them wear them and take pictures, of course! and we did laugh a lot! thanks for being good sports, boys!}
{watching the world cup finals with the guys at christie’s and sporting my red, black, and yellow!}
{we actually had some cool and rainy days in july! seriously, a miracle. there were some days when i couldn’t even believe that i was in texas in the middle of summer. how wonderful it was to have everything stay green and pretty for so long!}

{picture 1: a summer salad inspired by the flavors of a yummy appetizer we had in amsterdam. spinach + watermelon cubes + goat cheese + fresh cilantro + kalamata olives + prosciutto + cracked pepper + a cilantro vinaigrette. picture 2: i heart you, southpaws. and i heart the fact that you’re across the street from my house even more.}
{picture 1: a leisurely morning before i head to the airport. picture 2: a fun day of college friends + apartment shopping + mexican food + mojitos. can’t wait until my friend laura is here for good!}
{the short rib stroganoff at the porch is ridicalous. [yes, i spelled it like that on purpose. just so you can hear me saying it.] and i had to introduce laura to the skittle sangria at the common table – always a classic!}
{the big D. i’m discovering new places here all the time.}
{and because i always love to end with sunset pictures. #nofilter}
