there were no wishes to sleep through september ’round here. more like, shake me when september ends and i realize that i blinked and it’s over. it went by way too fast! [don’t mind my subtle old school green day references… i actually think i should get bonus points for putting a semi-positive spin on a very emo song.] but yeah. september, she gone. came and went before i knew what hit me. when she came, she brought some lovely autumn weather initially, soon to be followed by lots of warm weather. and she left things downright hot for falltime, even for texas. luckily a delicious little october cool front blew through and took care of that. [i’m thoroughly enjoying the PERFECT weather that we’re experiencing right now before it too is gone.]
anyway, it was a month that was short and sweet but came with lots of pictures, as always…
{at the beginning of the month, i celebrated my two-year-anniversary with my company [although i’ve even worked there longer, if you count my internship]. i’m so grateful to be a part of such a wonderful organization with so many wonderful people. it really is a dream job. i am blessed.}
{celebrating my friend laura’s move to dallas at the rustic!}
{andddddd celebration #3: i went down to houston for kyle’s birthday! we had such fun, as always!}
{making a wish!}
{i love this birthday boy!}
{when the early september cool front hit, i totally had to pull out my red flannel. also, messy scarecrow hair, don’t care.}
{a glimpse of the sunrise on a workday morning, and a little pre-brunch breakfast on a weekend morning}
{this was probably my last caprese salad until next spring/summer [sad face]. but i’m a happy girl when that fruit bowl is filled!}
{the view from a balcony of a ritz carlton residence, no big deal.}
{i’m totally not a car person if i’m being honest, but when you get asked to drive someone’s mercedes, and when that someone is your neighbor who has helped you out many times before, you don’t say no.} :)
{lucky spent a weekend with me… this is him not being too sure about that dark water of turtle creek being so close!}
{from our walk… and then i took him on a sprinkles date!}
{the sprinkles doggie cupcakes are his FAVORITE. the cuteness of him eating one always makes a scene too!}
{on our date!}
{he thinks he owns the couch.}
{i love this church home of mine [holy trinity catholic church]. and is this a giant whoopie pie or what?? [from stackhouse… i resisted the urge to get one after inhaling a fantastic goat cheese burger…]}
{my baby dog}
{selfies: a selfie sunday outtake + a fishtail braid}
{mid-yawn}
{because i never can get enough of him.}
{this is why i run: pumpkin, cinnamon, and caramel apple gelato from paciugo, and a mini apple crostada from maggiano’s}
{my “guess who’s wearing their gameday dress to work??” face. and my regular post-class view of dallas.}
{our college friend chelsea and her friend maddie came in town one weekend, so we got a group together and went out after work on friday. first stop was the standard pour for heavy appetizers and this epic moscow mule for 10! [we may have had 6 people… and finished it… #sorrywerenotsorry] it was pretty fantastic.}
{we opted for the ladle + individual mugs instead of the straws}
{…and then this happened. they were some brave souls! #bullriding}
{friends from fish camp}
{college roomies!}
{the whole group!}
{katlyn and i snuck up to the secret “maintenance rooftop” of a random apartment complex to see this awesome view of downtown dallas. totally worth it. these photos don’t do it justice!}
{truck yard is always a good time.}
{i love that every building in deep ellum seems to have some sort of interesting mural or art adorning it.}
{on the right, more deep ellum, and on the left, an anchor sign at dolly python that i was in love with/trying to find a place in my home for, and then dolly python goes and posts a photo of it [that looks almost identical to this one] on their instagram advertising it… and there goes my anchor. i mean, i can’t blame them, because who would see this and not love it and i definitely shouldn’t have left the store without it… but i’m still a little bitter about it!}
{on the left, courtney brought the cutest little petit fours to our wine and cheese night at laura’s, and on the right, cake balls from bread winners for a friend’s birthday}
{fall dinners: wheat berries with butternut squash + bacon and a grilled cheddar + apple sandwich!}
{breakfast for dinner}
{my sweet little dresser makeover with anthropologie knobs!}
{sometimes this is what my job looks like [on the left], which leads to my desk sometimes looking like this [on the right]. i love produce!}
{i always see the pretty skies on the way home to my parents’ house. and i can’t get over this little girl’s enormous bow in this old photograph we found at my great aunt’s house! we think this photo is from the 1930s, but we’re not certain.}
{the sunrise that i woke up to at my parents’ house}
{the sweet and smoky burger and the southern smokehouse burger from chili’s, with fresh pickles made in house!}
{skillet toffee fudge brownie, also from chili’s!}
{while i was home, we all went to the farr best theater in old downtown mansfield to see nobody, a short film about elvis before he became famous, because my mom’s student was starring in it. [she teaches high school.] sixteen-year-old drake milligan has been an elvis impersonator since he was 9! he did a fantastic job in the film and we got to watch him perform afterward. that last picture is my mom and him after the show.}
{once a month, my company has some food trucks come at lunch. this month i got kimchi tacos from the say kimchi truck and they were SO good – bulgogi, kimchi, onion, cilantro, and chef’s special spicy sauce. YUM.}
{oh hey whole foods, fall sure does look good on you.}
have a happy, spooky october! :)
