how was your weekend? i went down to college station this weekend to watch the aggies play ole miss… i don’t want to talk about the game… but it was so fun to be on my old stomping grounds again and see lots of old friends. there will MOST DEFINITELY be a post dedicated our adventures at A&M this weekend.
this week, over the course of several days and with the help of some coffee, pumpkin ale, and apple cider with a splash of apple cider vinegar [because i was trying to kick a sore throat and ward off any colds that sometimes have a tendency to follow a sore throat, which i did successfully! wooo!], i was able to accomplish last week’s challenge and get my place decorated for halloween/fall and mostly cleaned up [the main living areas are clean and my bedroom is getting there…]. fall candles are burning and little jack-o’-lanterns are grinning at me from all directions [cute ones, not scary ones]. so i’m feeling in the autumn spirit and also a little more calm and collected than i was last week. it’s nice to no longer have that hanging over my head. pictures of the halloweened-out house will be coming soon as well!
for this week’s challenge, i’m going to work on finishing a thought before jumping to the next one. it sounds like a weird challenge, but it’s something that i’m bad about – my brain is moving faster than i can talk, and i tend to sort of interrupt myself when i’m telling a story or explaining something to add in another thought about the story or whatever i’m explaining, when i should just wait until the first thought is complete before adding in additional details. it’s a bad habit and makes it a little more difficult for people to follow a story and can sometimes make me sound unsure if i’m explaining something. i’ve gotten to a point where i often catch myself doing it now [which is good because i’m much more aware of it], but i want to try to stop myself before i even start to do it, so that’s the goal of the week.
i have two selfies for this week, and neither are glamorous:
{stamps on hands, wristbands, t-shirts and soccer shorts, and lots of hydration… am i in college again? i was last night, actually…}
{…and to top it off, i didn’t take off my makeup last night so i woke up to black smudges on my eyes. yep, i was definitely back in college.}
admittedly, i’m not the young whippersnapper that i once was, so despite all the fun i had in college station this weekend, it doesn’t feel bad getting back to the daily not-so-wild grind of work and school and chill happy hours and going to bed at 11 pm most nights. i never thought i would say that. so yes, i’m officially OLD. :)
