i know i’ve been talking a lot about my friends lately, but i’m just feeling extra grateful for the girls and guys in my life right now. when it’s true and authentic and involving genuine, good-hearted people who like to do the same things you like to do, friendship is such a beautiful, beautiful thing. two such lovely ladies whom i’ve been hanging with lately and very much enjoying are kristen and rebecca. kristen is a longtime friend who went to the same church as me growing up and actually went to A&M too, although we only saw each other occasionally throughout our college years, meeting for lunch here and there to catch up on each other’s lives. rebecca is a more recent friend, although we’ve known each other for well over a year now [maybe approaching two years?], and we met on a blind [friend] date – her sister was my realtor and she thought we would be great friends. she was right! as my friendship with becca blossomed and kristen moved to DF-dub and we rekindled that friendship, it occurred to me that these two just had to meet because i feel like they’re soul sisters. namely, they are creative and artsy and always inspiring me in their sense of fashion, their photography, their faith in the Lord and their everyday life in general. and i just want to be like them. :) aaaaaaaaaaand i was pretty sure the three of us could come up with some great adventures! [i was right.]
so i set up a little date for us all to hang out in fort worth and kristen so graciously invited us to her new, adorable little yellow house to meet, and then we did what we all three do best – ate really good food, sipped on some tasty drinks, and just had a fabulous time. they hit it off right away, as i suspected, which means a lot more hangouts to come! a win for all!
{before we go any further, can we please talk about kristen’s kitchen? it makes me swoon…}
{sunday supper at american food and beverage}
{STALKYARD. celery & cucumber infused gin, basil, lime juice, tonic, fennel bitters. right up my alley.}
{and then MELT! to make all rebecca’s dreams come true… but kristen and i were all like, twist our arms}
{…and some candids, because. obviously.}
{you know you’re having a great time when all of our eyes are closed in the picture because we’re all laughing…}
{sunday funday at the usual bar. this one was called “don’t ask. don’t tell.” it was vodka, akvavit, lime, lavender, ginger beer.}
and then, there was obviously a round two. this time, we went to friday on the green.
{live music and food trucks and blankets on the grass…}
{oh and tacos and beer and a s’mores cup… what else does a girl need?}
…think it looks too good to be true? well, you’re right. i feel like i should mention that there was a TRAGIC hot sauce event – at the beginning of the night, no less – in which my white shirt and white-and-red striped shorts were assaulted by an unruly RAMPANT squeeze bottle of bright orange hot sauce. it literally splattered me from my forehead all the way on down to the bottom of my shorts. i was confined to my mexican blanket for the rest of the night… the girls were like, hey, let’s go dance, and i was all, yeahhhhh, me and my hot sauce stains will be chilling here on this blanket… this is why i can’t have nice things. it’s not all sunshine and roses, folks. no siree.
{you can totally tell which tacos are mine…}
{here’s me after the incident. what you can’t see from this grainy photo are the tiny little orange dots ALL OVER ME.}
anyway, life goes on. RIP cute outfit.
{thankfully this s’mores cup from the brewed booth that becca and i shared kiiiiiiiinda made up for it…}
{one more. because we are dorks and i love us.}
i’ll hang out with these two beauties any day. thanks for the fun times, lovelies. xoxo
