more apologies for the radio silence… i need to get back on a blogging routine, clearly. culinary school is in full swing, i’ve spent my last two weekends with friends, and i’ve been preoccupied with some other stuff on the side, BUT. enough with the excuses, right? i’m as tired of them as you are! let’s do this thing.
i’ll give an update on life lately along with some sunday goodness:
: : first up, a couple photos of sunset at the greenwood cemetery, which is on my running route. i can’t wait for those trees to get their autumn outfits on, even though it will probably be, oh, like 2 months from now…
: : the international cuisine class that i’m taking right now might be my favorite culinary class thus far. we cook for the restaurant that’s at our school [it’s the real deal now!], and every week has a different country as the theme of the meal. we each take a turn being the head chef for a week and planning out the menu, assigning jobs, managing the kitchen, etc. my week is at the beginning of november, and my country is sweden. i’ve been busy planning the menu and testing recipes and i’m getting more and more excited [but also really nervous] for my week!
: : the days are getting shorter, the daylight looks different these days, there are pumpkins outside the grocery stores and the PSL has arrived at starbucks, and it’s even starting to cool down slightly at night, but fall weather just hasn’t hit texas yet as far as i’m concerned. i sure am ready for some sweater weather! hopefully any day now…
: : speaking of fall, i’ve already bought my pumpkins, made my favorite pumpkin bars, and broken out the hard cider. oktoberfest brews and pumpkin ale are next on the list!
: : my last two weekends have been spent with friends [as mentioned above and last week] – first it was a super fun weekend at lake conroe with my best friend angela and a bunch of our houston friends, and then it was a super fun weekend with kyle as he came to visit me in dallas on saturday/sunday. these weekends will likely have their own posts, but i’m just feeling so blessed for being surrounded by such wonderful people in my life. these people are the best of the best – they’re soooo much fun, but not only that – they’re also good people from the bottom of their hearts, and they’re like soulmates for me, because our friendship runs so deep. i love them dearly.
: : i’ve been trying to do adult things like clean my house throughout the week instead of letting it get really messy and then cleaning it for company. my goal is to designate 20-30 minutes a day for picking up, dusting, mopping, washing mirrors and windows, or whatever part of the house needs some attention. [this might seem like common sense to some of you, but for the organizationally challenged, it’s not so much. i’m notorious for being messy, although i’m unsatisfied if my place isn’t spotless if company is coming, which leads to unnecessary stress before people visit, which is EXACTLY what i want to avoid.] so far it’s going pretty well, but i’m just hoping it lasts!
: : what else? i’ve been wanting to watch this movie for quite some time, so that’s on my to-do list. i’ve also dying to go to buffalo exchange and dolly python since i haven’t been to either one in ages. needing a little thrifting in my life!
: : yesterday i went to st. thomas aquinas instead of holy trinity, the church i belong to, because my church doesn’t have a 7:30 pm mass. the priest [or i think it was actually the deacon who gave the homily?] gave such a great message on finding joy and letting the things go that are preventing you from following God and being the person you want to be. i left church feeling full and content and at peace, because i know the Lord is leading me in a direction, and although i don’t always know where it will end up, i’m confident that it’s the right way.
xoxo
