a cold and rainy day, a cozy fire in the fireplace. a beautiful table with my great-grandma’s china, plates that were overflowing with goodness. two lovely out-of-towner ladies that we were excited to see! wonderful food, wonderful wine, wonderful company, wonderful kitchen helpers. the best turkey ever! an adorable, sweet little puppy who is a little angel in his crate during dinner, so long as he can be in the same room as us [he just wants to be sociable! also, i feel bad that the photos of him are all in his crate… i promise he doesn’t stay in there all day and i promise that he loves that thing. he’ll crawl into it without us even telling him to!] a birthday celebration with banners and presents and the famous half-and-half cake [plus another whole cake, not pictured! we do birthdays right]. :) one birthday boy being silly and three birthday loves making a wish! we are blessed.
p.s. i think it’s interesting to compare this year’s thanksgiving pictures with last year’s… the table and food look almost the same because we have our favorite recipes that we make every year [although i didn’t make my usual half-and-half cake last year for the bday celebration – only the coconut-pecan frosting. can’t remember why we decided not to!], but a lot has changed too – mom and dad added onto the porch/backyard, our dearest lucky is no longer with us, but we have the cutest little baby shiner now. mimi couldn’t come to thanksgiving this year but we were happy to have priscilla join us! with every year comes changes, but many of them are good and it’s nice to have some constant in there too. life is so interesting!
