so it’s been a long while since i’ve given any updates on my little pink flamingo condo. it’s hard to believe that i moved in almost three years ago! this all seems like ages ago! anyway, i’ve had most of my furniture for some time and have had the rooms “complete” for a while now, but let’s be honest – nothing is ever “complete” with me. and it’s for this reason that my family and i spent this saturday moving around furniture and pictures on the wall and adding in new furniture and pictures too! i can’t thank my fam enough – they worked super hard to help me get my place just the way i want it, and i’m in love with the results. it’s still a work in progress, but i’m so happy with the way it all turned out. here’s what we did:
first of all, i had this little yellow bookshelf in my main living/dining area [it was against one of the walls next to the dining room table and actually matches a little yellow side table that i keep next to a chair in my living room]. i love the bookshelf, but i’ve known for a while that i didn’t just love it in the space it was in. it was too small on that wall and looked too similar in size to another [colorful] piece that i had against the wall next to it. but now, due to the rearranging of some other furniture in the living and dining areas, i was able to move it to my bedroom, where i think it has belonged all along. i really love the color it adds in there, and i especially love that my little antique globe finally has a home too!
{doesn’t it just look like it belongs there?}
and then mom and mimi helped me hang this “rise and shine” print, which i got from sushi and queso designs at an etsy event. now i can look at it every morning when i wake up!
{i’m still trying to decide if i want something on the wall above that little pink beaded dish. we will see if the right thing comes along. either way, i’m loving this little corner of my room!}
when i moved the bookshelf off that wall in the dining area, it meant that i could move the white shabby-chic buffet [which my tv was previously sitting on] into that space, and then i could create a gallery wall above it that i’ve been dreaming of for a while. i have so much art from my travels that i’ve been collecting over the years, and i was finally able to get it all hung and on the wall, thanks to mom and mimi [and some help from dad and mike too!]. mimi used to work in an art gallery in new orleans, and she and my mom really have a knack for picture hanging.
{i just need to find one more small piece of art for that bottom left corner. i want to wait for the right piece.}
{sorry for all the glare on these}
{i think this one is the one with the least glare, so you can actually see the pictures! i love that there’s art from buenos aires, budapest, hamburg, brussels, college station, new orleans, kyoto, salzburg, seattle, brussels, boston, amsterdam, paris, tucson, dallas, and st. petes on that one wall. it makes me so happy.}
and then, the reason that i could do all that rearranging: i finally got a piece of furniture to put my tv on. i didn’t mind the tv on the buffet, except i didn’t like the cable box, dvd player, and apple tv box plus all their cords sitting up there haphazardly. i knew that i didn’t want to spend a lot of money on something because i figured it could be something i’d only use for a few years, and i knew that i wanted it to have shelves so that i could have a place to store more pretties. :) so i ended up with this piece that i got from ikea and i think it filled the space so well. it’s exactly what i was looking for! and then my dad and brother so kindly put it together for me. they’re handy to have around! i’m still working on what i want on the shelves but i like how it’s looking:
{it sort of makes my tv look small but i don’t mind. i’m not one to have a big tv anyway.} :)
i forget how much fun house projects are! it was really a great day, and i loved spending time with my family. they are seriously the best workers – they’re so efficient and they each have different skill sets. so thank you so much mom, dad, and mike for all your help yesterday! [and thanks to shiner who was a consistent but extremely cute little pistol the entire time. and hilarious. we love himmm!]. i’m already planning the next house projects! ;) xoxo
