this year we celebrated thanksgiving on friday because it was the day that we could all be together, and as i’ve come to learn in my family, it’s really not about what day you celebrate but instead about everyone being there and participating on whatever day you can. it was a glorious holiday! the break turned out to be pretty relaxing since everyone contributed to the meal, and our thanksgiving dinner was as fantastic as usual. i always get lots of photos of food, but i can be bad about getting pics of the most important thing – the people! – but this year i did a little bit better at that, with very minimal food pics! [i know, a miracle.] here are a couple snapshots from thanksgiving, starting with our annual family photo:
{i love this one.}
{…but i also had to post this one because OMG, shiner peeking his head into the corner of the photo makes my heart melt!}
{my amazing mom and i don’t have enough photos together! so i’m glad we got this one. love her to the moon and back.}
{and i love that priscilla and i got this one together because she sure is a beautiful soul and i’m always so glad to see her when she comes home from med school.}
{precious!}
{a little blurry but i’m posting it anyway!}
{fall stuff.}
{it’s hard to believe that this cute little face causes so much trouble…}
{these two are so darling!}
{i love my grandmothers.}
{they’re probably going to be embarrassed that i’m sharing this but it was too cute not to post!}
{i’m the luckiest girl because of them.}
{mom and nama, watching football.}
{sometimes when this cute boy is being a pistol, we fasten his leash onto the pantry doorknob so he can be around us but not get into trouble!}
{…and then he sits there, deep in thought, plotting his great escape…}
{…and he moves further from the pantry door, hoping to open the door…}
{…still trying to open the door with his leash…}
{…and then luckily mimi comes to his rescue to give him some love.}
{shiner loves his mimi!}
{three turkeys!}
{dad did a fantastic job with the bird like he does every year.}
{he’s a beauty.}
{mimi making gravy!}
{my mom always gets out the good china for thanksgiving, which used to be my dad’s grandmother’s.}
{about to eat}
{i made a tarte tatin for dessert.}
{i used my favorite tart dough recipe and it turns out that it was probably a little too short [all that butter!] for a crust that isn’t pressed into a pan. it was a bit crumbly but honestly oh so worth it for the taste. that tart crust is always so delicious!}
and that concludes thanksgiving 2016. i hope everyone had a blessed time with family and friends. and now it’s christmas season, wooo! xoxo
