the night before i moved to colorado, my parents came to dallas and we had a fancy little dinner at uchi, an amazing contemporary japanese restaurant in dallas. my brother and i had been before [i had only been for some wine and small bites but they were soo good], and we had been dying to go with mom and dad because we knew they would love it. my dad had made reservations and they gave us the best seats in the house – we were in this spacious elevated booth enclosed by walls on three sides with a nice little view of the restaurant… it was lovely and such a fun spot for our relaxing, leisurely multi-course dinner. everything at uchi is very shareable, so we ordered tons of different things and each had bites of them all. the food at uchi is so artfully prepared, so fresh, and such an amazing combination of flavors. it was truly a fun culinary experience for all of us, and the company was impeccable as well. ;)

{i love these two…aaaaand i love that gorgeous dress from anthro that my mother is wearing!}
{i miss having brother bear close. we had some great times together in dallas!}
{the hama chili: yellowtail, ponzu, thai chili, orange suprème}
{the machi cure: smoked yellowtail, marcona almond, yucca crisp}
{the hot rock: wagyu beef that we cooked on a piping hot rock, served with ponzu}
{the biendo: tempura shrimp spring roll, nuoc mam, grape}
{this was on the special menu so i don’t know what it’s called but it was basically foie gras nigiri. sooooo good.}
{the madai sushi: japanese sea bream}
{the zero sen: yellowtail, avocado, shallot, cilantro}
{the sake toro sushi: salmon belly}
{this was on the special menu and i don’t remember what it was but it was super delish.}
{the peanut butter semifreddo: apple-miso, golden raisin. kinda had the flavors of a fancy PB&J!}
{the fried milk: toasted meringue, chocolate. this was fantastic.}
{these people are my everything.}
thank you to my darling parents for such a wonderful dinner and a wonderful time. i’ll be forever grateful for this family. xoxo
