after an extremely eventful december, jamie and i vowed to take it easy in the month of january and just enjoy some time together, which is exactly what we did. work was trending high on the stress level, but thankfully i was also getting out early most days and working fewer saturdays. we ended up going on so many fun dates this month! which i’m definitelyyyy not complaining about. it was so nice to have some quality time together and do some fun things. here are some photos from the month of january:
{after a long day of being stuck at the plant while it was gorgeous and 68 degrees outside [in january, mind you] on a saturday, a little date with my jamie boy was just what the doctor ordered! poke at our favorite place, pokecity, for the win!}
{…and then we went to our first movie in a theater together, ever! 1 year, 5 months, and 1 day after meeting! i guess we can cross that off our list.} ;)
{a lunch date after church at mercantile. and that sour cherry danish with streusel topping that we shared was delish.}
{jamie and i had the opportunity to go see professional bull-riding at the national western stock show one wednesday through my work, so we took it!}
{this was a fun little weeknight date!}
{planning out 2018 thanks to jamie’s sister hope and the cute rifle paper co. planner she gave me! it’s no secret that planning is one of my favorite pastimes.} :)
{“i felt myself reaching for you in different gravities.” – tyler kent white. God, you’re the one i’m reaching for, always.}
{my first time to stanley marketplace! it was awesome.}
{kind of reminded me of a mini chelsea market!}
{a cute little shop in stanley market all decorated for valentine’s day}
{i like this idea…}
{i love this place.}
{dinner + drinks at comida!}
{the chilango [habanero chile and mango beer] at cheluna brewing co.}
{the bathroom stalls of punch bowl social are so cool. because the bar is located inside the historical stapleton air traffic control tower, the stalls are all airplane-themed. also, i loved this little “i love you so much” wall! reminded me of austin.}
{fun drinks at punch bowl social. the one on the left has an aspen tree straw! and on the right is an adult milkshake.}
{adult milkshakes are enough to make anyone feel a little naughty.} ;)
{the lights in the city are still up! or they were when i took this.}
{a sushi burrito from komotodo!}
{we made a little trip to golden one saturday for a date!}
{welcome to golden}
{standing over clear creek, which is supposedly where they get the water for coors – the brewery is there in the background.}
{golden has a cute little downtown}
{dusk and the mountains}
{heading to dinner}
{we ate at a neat place called abejas… the picture on the left is not it – it’s like a law office or something next store that i thought was cute, ha. but the photo on the right is inside the restaurant.}
{the bar}
{on our date! the light made weird lines on my head, but i’m posting it anyway!}
{this place had the coolest drinks… i ordered the bees’ knees. we were so fascinated with the bee on top of the egg whites – do you see it?!}
{they brought out a little treat from the chef.}
{we made the mistake of having a late snack somewhere else, so we were full before dinner even started, sadly. but we ordered a couple small plates and shared them, and they were yummy! on the left is roasted beets & huckleberry with duck pastrami, seared radicchio, phyllo wrapped goat cheese, and lavender. on the right is octopus a la plancha with poached seckel pears, sweet potato, black trumpet mushrooms, cubeb berries, and molasses glaze.}
{on the left, a beautiful day + early arrival home from work = the perfect day for a run. i stopped running to snap a picture of the patio of biju’s little curry shop because it looked so inviting! and apparently that was the calm before the storm, see photo on right. haha.}
{snow day sunday!}
{that picture on the left was taken walking to church from our car. so much snow! and since breakfast is our THING, here’s a few things we’ve had/made recently… on the right, it’s not homemade, but fruit tarts are my favorite, and jamie was so sweet to surprise me with these one morning. we shared one for course #1 of breakfast!}
{course #2 was this awesome egg sandwich with pico de gallo and cheese. sooo tasty!}
{more breakfasts! i was so proud of the breakfast i made on the right with nutty banana bread, hash browns [nailed them], and eggs [which jamie made, tasty like always], but i had forgotten the sausage links that i had made! oh well.}
{this date was fun! we had conveyor belt sushi at sushi-rama, then went next door to samana for a float spa, which was one of jamie’s christmas gifts to me. it was so crazy – you first take a shower [with the coolest water you can stand] and wash your body with this glycerin stuff, and then you get in this chamber which has maybe a foot and a half of water that’s room temperature and mixed with an enormous amount of epsom salts so that you float effortlessly. they have music that you can play or you can float in silence. you can literally take a nap in there, although i didn’t.}
{the float was 90 minutes long! in the first 10 minutes that i got in, i was thinking, wow, 90 minutes is going to go by really slowly, but it actually went by fast for me. i had fun floating back and forth and just relaxing and thinking. i meditated for a while and did a lot of praying too. i kept the music going the whole time, and you can adjust the lights, so after 30-40 minutes, i felt comfortable enough to turn off the lights so that it was pitch black inside. it was such a crazy feeling – the whole experience was so unique. it was very relaxing to the mind. afterward, you shower off all the salt and they provide shampoo, conditioner, hair dryers, etc. thanks for the great gift, jamie!}
{and after our float, we went to d bar for dessert. those churros were to die for.}
{snow in my courtyard}
{i’ve been making lots of bowl food lately. on the left is a lentil soup with kale and sour cream. on the right is an herby barley salad with butter-basted mushrooms. pretty tasty!}
{noelle and i went to there… for dinner one weeknight.}
{popcorn + pisco sour}
{they have a unique assortment of different little bites, and we were able to enjoy happy hour specials which was nice. these are some various tostadas and lettuce wraps.}
{we also ordered some steamed buns. i feel like this place can be hit or miss – some of the things i ordered, i loved, but with other items, i wouldn’t order them again. but we had a fun little date here!}
{a picture my mom sent of little shiner boy after a haircut}
{sunset and the mountains. this photo doesn’t do it justice!}
yep, january was a fun month. nowwww be expecting for me to flash back to july through november since i need to catch up on those months! happy february! xoxo
