i already mentioned it here, but for jamie’s birthday, i gave him a night at marriott’s mountain valley lodge in breckenridge that very saturday night after his birthday. we were already planning on going skiing on saturday, and with the big events of the weekend before and the chaos of wedding planning already starting to set in, it ended up being perfect timing for a relaxing, joyous weekend together. an engagement-moon, one might call it?! we even got to drop by our proposal site exactly one week after it happened, which was kind of fun, since we were in the area.
there was one big lesson learned on this trip: when in breck, make dinner reservations in advance!!! i planned on taking jamie to a nice dinner, but i didn’t know what time we’d be off the slopes and showered. and although we were finally able to find a good place, it took a lot of effort to find one that would even put us on a list and be able to seat us prior to like 9:30 pm. there were tons of people out and it was hectic and we were starting to get hangry, and even though it all worked out and we ended up having a nice, relaxing dinner at a good spot, next time we will definitely save ourselves some trouble and just make a res. here are some photos from our weekend:
{ready to head to the mountains!}
{always my favorite view.}
{jamie had the brilliant idea to stop at this little empanada place in silverthorne called the argentos empanadas and more. it was soooo good! such a cute little spot with delicious empanadas!}
{these were so tasty.}
{time to ski!}
{we skied keystone, which seems to be the place we always ski, but it’s reasonably priced and we like it.}
{just a couple of bugs. ;) also, i love his face in that last one.}
{yesssssss, i know, we like to kiss…}
{a blue moon on a patio at the top of the mountain on a beautiful day. this didn’t suck.}
{it’s so gorgeous on top of the mountain.}
{such a fun day together!}
{heading to the hotel after skiing}
{but first we stopped at sapphire point, where we got engaged exactly one week prior!!!!}
{this place will always be so special to us.}
{this was our hotel view, which ALSO didn’t suck.} ;)
{that night, we walked around breck and also tried to find a restaurant to eat at… i had fun taking photos along the way!}
{i love how it’s basically christmas all winter long in breck!}
{we ended up eating at artisan 206. we shared the house-made ricotta with roasted tomato, garlic, and grilled bread for an app.}
{i got the spicy lamb tikka masala with roasted tomato, garlic, pearl onion, and yogurt sauce, with shallot and garlic rice. it was very different and very tasty.}
{the next day, we started our morning in the hot tub. best idea ever! we were the only ones there and the views were great.}
{morning views}
{we got ready, checked out of our hotel, and had crepes from trolley crepes [right next to our hotel] for breakfast!}
{we walked around the town with coffee in hand…}
{…and then had mimosas and poke bowls at tiki mana island grill before heading home! jamie and i both had a lot to do at home, so we were glad to have had a little weekend getaway and still have part of our sunday to be productive.}
i had such a fun time with my jamie boy as usual! i can’t wait for many more adventures together. xoxo
