once upon a time ago [august 5, 2017, to be exact], jamie and i celebrated one year of dating! this feels like forever ago because i’m so behind [we’re now closer to two years than one year], but it is fun looking back on these memories. we had a great little day celebrating the last 365 days:
{anniversary donuts kind of accidentally became a tradition for us. on this day, we had heart-shaped donuts!}
{and lunch at our favorite – poke city!}
{hi-dive, the place where we met exactly one year prior. can you believe it was at this dive??? us either, haha!}
{we tried getting a drink at hi-dive in the afternoon just for fun, since neither of us had been back since we met. but unfortunately they didn’t open til 4 pm and we were on a schedule! sooo we STILL haven’t been back since!!}
{gotta love that “till death do us party” sign. it should also be noted that there was a homeless man sleeping right outside as we were trying to take this photo. lol. it’s a high-caliber place.}
{ready for dinner at el five!}
{o n e y e a r}
{cheesin’ big because it’s DATE NIGHT!}
{the views at el five are stellar.}
{it was such a nice day – we sat on the patio and it was glorious.}
{patatas bravas with chorizo, salsa brava, sherry gastrique, and garlic aioli}
{moroccan lamb sausage with hummus, feta cheese, fava beans, pea tendrils, lemon, and mint}
{matzah ball soup dumplings with mirepoix, chicken bouillon, lemon olive oil, and dill}
{we got home just as the storm was rolling in… the mountains looked so cool.}
{and THEN we got ready to go to a quinceañera for my QA tech’s daughter that evening. you’ll see more pics of that when i post on august, but here we are all dressed up [for the second time that night!]. i’m thankful that jamie was a good sport about it – neither one of us had been to a quinceañera before so we were curious to see what it was all about, and we had a fun evening.}
i also want to remember a caption from a picture i posted on this day because it gives me all the feelings:
“One year ago today, I met this man in the most least likely place (through friends of friends at a crazy little dive bar on a work trip visiting the company I now work for, amazingly). Little did I know at the time how my life would change in the next year and what JOY this man would bring me over that time. No, it hasn’t always been easy – a long-distance relationship, an out-of-state move, a job change for each of us and my 10-12 hour work days (often 6 days a week), plus two 27-year-olds who have strong beliefs and opinions will provide their fair share of challenges and tough times. But despite some ups and downs, we’ve had great adventures together, so many moments that are better than my dreams. When God put this man in my life, He saw my weaknesses and blessed me with someone who balances me out and challenges me to be better. He gave me someone who builds me up, makes me feel brave, gives me comfort, and makes me feel more loved than I could ask for. He is a role model, a companion, my best friend, and the man of my dreams. I can’t wait for all of our next adventures! I love you Jamie V.”
and that was our one-year anniversary! i love you jamie bear. you complete me. xoxoxo
