jamie and i had a low-key easter together this year. each of our families were together, so of course we wished we could be with them, but it was sweet to have a little time together as an engaged couple, soon to start our own family together. i think i was more sentimental about easter because of that. my mom [and grandmothers too] always went above and beyond to make every holiday special, with alllll the decorations, traditions, and festive and fancy home-cooked meals that felt like celebrations in themselves. when i think about jamie’s and my future together, i realize how much i want to carry on the legacy of these amazing ladies in my life and make our holiday celebrations special, even when it’s just the two of us.
so on easter sunday, jamie and i took a photo by my new veurink family chalkboard [you’ll hear more about it below] and went to church together, and then i made us a festive easter dinner [with jamie’s help]. :) here are a few photos:
{i know our engagement is old news, but the other day i bought our future veurink family chalkboard and thought we should backtrack a little so that our first chalkboard message could celebrate the beginning of our future and family together!}
{just getting ready to roast a little asparagus with some pearl onions…}
{our easter dinner!}
{on the menu, we have some of jamie’s dad’s smoked ham with some honey mustard, his mom’s recipe for deviled eggs, powderhorn potatoes like my mom makes, roasted asparagus and pearl onions, and my family’s favorite peach pie fruit salad, complete with some summer shandy and chocolate bunnies [dark chocolate for me and milk chocolate for jamie]. i’d say it was a wonderful easter dinner indeed.}
we had fun celebrating the most important holiday of the year, the one that celebrates Jesus’ resurrection that delivered us from sin. we are thankful for the Lord’s many blessings and look forward to a future of celebrations like this together. praise be to God! xoxo
