i do all my shooting with my nikon d5100, using either my AF-S 50mm f/1.8G lens or the kit lens, and my iphone. i currently edit my photos with lightroom 6 [i used to use photoshop cs5] and the vsco cam app.
i’ve always been kind of artsy and can look through the viewfinder and see exactly what i want to capture and know the way i want to capture it, but that is only half of it. understanding the mechanics of my camera and how to capture what i want to capture is the other half, and if i’m being honest, i could use a lot of improvement in that area. sometimes i open up the manual that came with my camera and it just looks like a whole bunch of words. most of what i know [which really isn’t much!] was learned from googling, watching youtube videos, or just playing around.
i did take a photography class in college and learned how to use the very basics of photoshop, and it is those basic skills that i use to edit all of my photos now in lightroom. maybe someday i’ll learn how to use more advanced techniques within photoshop or at least get more comfortable just messing around with it, but right now i’m fine in my little limited box of photoshop/lightroom knowledge. :)
i will say, though, that i never, ever get bored of taking pictures. put me outside, give me a camera, and hours pass without me realizing it. even in the most uninteresting places, with my eye behind a viewfinder, i’ll find beauty. it really is everywhere.
i try to include pictures with most of my posts – they might not all be quality images, but they tell my story, which is most important to me.
