in august, i was fortunate to have two amazing bridal showers – one was a mail shower thrown by my mother-in-law karen, and the other was a travel-themed shower thrown by some family friends from my church growing up. other than that, jamie and i were mostly just working furiously on wedding stuff. for me, august was sort of the turning point when wedding planning went from being more relaxed to a little more hectic, if i’m being honest. luckily we weren’t super stressed, but it definitely got busier this month, and i was starting to feel the nearness of our wedding and the lengthiness of our to-do list! so we were very busy on the weekends getting everything done that we could, and then meanwhile i was very busy at work trying to prepare for my boss’s departure and step into my new position. [his retirement at the very end of september and my wedding in mid-october was just impeccable timing, no? ;) it was completely unintentional but a little unlucky. thankfully it all worked out just fine!] but we got to see lots of family and friends during this month, and it was very exciting to be able to tell them that the next time we’d see them was at the wedding in less than 2 months!! here are a few photos from month 8 of 2018:
{because my mom came in town for the mail shower, we were able to fit in some one-on-one time while jamie spent some time with his family too. here we were toasting with a glass of bubbly to my new job at barcelona. and tasting their beet salad… yum.}
{lunch at dairy block with jamie’s fam. isn’t that sticky note quilt fun??}
{we had a really fun dinner at postino too! they have the best bruschetta.}
{PSA: i love my mom!}
{she’s the best!}
{posole and tacos! some of my work favorites.} :)
{we love den bis co!}
{seen on my run. current feels!}
{the new guy in town – hi tide. you had us at spicy garlic yellowtail poke and pineapple beer.}
{and not to talk about food allllll the time, but the brown sugar cinnamon ice cream at high point creamery is to DIE FOR. it tastes exactly like the cinnamon butter at texas roadhouse in ice cream form.}
{when you’re getting married, you have an excuse to do fun and frivolous things like eyelash extensions.}
{on this particular afternoon in gorgeous denver in the photo on the left, i was contemplating 1.) whether to share this hefty slice of spring fling cake with jamie, and 2.) whether i should try to get a res for the al fresco dinner that night on larimer square that i was watching the restaurants set up for. spoiler alert: i decided yes on both. :) and that’s how we ended up at this lovely little table in the photo on the right.}
{dining al fresco on larimer square!}
{meatball sliders from osteria marco}
{this was so much fun!}
{i just had to post our nephews’ four-year-old photos because aren’t they the cutest??? sawyer and finn. or is it finn and sawyer?? haha.}
{gosh they are adorable.}
{on the left, the ceiling of the tarrant county courthouse. i took this when we went to get our marriage license! it’s such a beautiful building. and on the right, those chocolate-covered espresso beans that they top the coffee with at the human bean are fun.}
{my mom sent me this picture of shiner because he looks bow-legged, haha. [he’s not.] aaaaaand biscuits and jam ice cream when you’re trying to eat healthy two months before your wedding… i’ve never in my life been the type to crave ice cream – if i ever had it in the freezer, it would become covered in ice crystals and gooey because it would sit in there for so long, and jamie would attest to the fact that most of the time when we go to an ice cream shop, i don’t get any. but now of course i want it since i know i shouldn’t have it!! brain, WHY do you work this way?! #brideprobs}
{these rosé flights may or may not have been part of the reason that jamie, noëlle, and i missed our flight home for my bridal shower… ;) but in our defense, it took forever for them to bring them and our food out, and then we were mistaken on what time our flight boarded, so… that was a bummer. it was the first flight i’ve ever missed in my life! but thank goodness there was a flight out first thing the next morning so we made it in time for the shower!}
{haha}
{a few more photos from my travel-themed bridal shower! the food and decor were all so cute!}
{checking out my brother’s new tesla! it’s pretty sweet. we even watched it back itself out of the garage with no one inside which is completely insane.}
{and i may have found a new favorite item at HG sply: street corn-avocado toast! charred corn, avocado, cotija, cilantro, pickled red onions, lime & valentina aioli on toasted sourdough. so freaking good.}
and then we blinked and fall was here! xoxo
