as you may have noticed, i haven’t said anything about the devastating tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary.  i have no words, because there is nothing that can make the situation better.  nothing that can bring back those dear, innocent children and their teachers and administrators.  nothing that can explain how someone could do such a brutally awful thing.

many times, when people pass away, you can say and know in your heart that that person was only meant to live a short while, that they had done their duties on this earth, and that their time had come to be in heaven.  but how do you say this about your six-year-old baby who was gunned down at short range?  i don’t have a child myself, but i will never get over the thought of those poor mothers and fathers living their worst nightmare.  how do you ever recover?  it’s the most terrible thing imaginable.

we’ve all had our share of tears, for there’s no one who isn’t deeply saddened for those families.  it’s a helpless, hopeless feeling that lives inside of us, because despite everyone’s desire to do something about it, there is no simple answer to ensure the safety of our families in this world that we live in.

but there is something you can do.

something, in fact, that takes very little effort and no money at all.

please.  pray.

those families need our prayers.  the family of the shooter needs our prayers.  the world needs our prayers.  we all need each other’s help, and we need God.  it starts in your own homes.

so during this holiday season, treasure the time with your families and spread love wherever you go.  fill your homes with the presence of God and pray together that people will seek good, not evil, and that our world will have more positive things to dwell on.  i will do the same.
