lucky 22! that’s my lucky number, if you didn’t know, and i’d say that it has been a lucky week indeed. my brother took the job with the company that he interned with this summer, so come graduation in may, he will be moving to dallas for good! i almost cried when he told me, i was so happy. i loved having him here this summer and our to-do list is still pages long soooo… good thing he’ll be coming back so we can check it all off. :) it will be great fun.
i’m proud to say that i completely dominated last week’s challenge. which is a good thing since it was attempt #2 at the closet cleanout. but this time, i rocked it.
i’m slightly embarrassed to show you the “before” pics, because it looks like a tornado swept through my closet, but it makes the “after” pictures that much better. so here it goes…
{yeahhhhh. try not to look at the floor.}
{messy shelves}
{…and when you pull aside my chef coat and all the other clean clothes that i hang to dry but never put away, MORE messy shelves. surprise!}
{jewelry/clutter on top of my shoe holder.}
so there’s the before. today, i went through all my clothes and shoes and items on the shelf and everything on the floor. i now have a whole pile of stuff to sell or donate that i no longer wear, got rid of about ten thousand hangers [the wire and brown cardboard good-for-nothing ones], and i reorganized everything else. i EVEN put all my shirts in rainbow order. and there’s nothing on the floor anymore, yippee!
the after pictures:
{can you see that clean floor??}
{organized [-ish] shelves}
{all clothes put away + organized shelves}
{rainbow order. [insert smiley with hearts for eyes here]} :)
i’m pretty thrilled about the closet situation, and i’m going to work on keeping it clean now that everything has a place and i got rid of a bunch of stuff.
this week, i’ll be reorganizing the under-my-bed items. i’ve already gone through a bunch of the paperwork, books, and magazines under there, but i have a big craft box that i haven’t touched since i moved in, plus a cloth bag of winter clothes, and who knows what else that i need to go through. this is step 2 of the 3-step condo cleanout that i’ve had in my head for quite some time now, so hopefully i will get this one accomplished so i can move on to the last step next week.
in other news, my grandmothers took a trip to poland and germany together and just got back on friday [cool, right?], so i went home this weekend to hear all about their adventures and see mom and dad and the luckster. mimi and nama had a wonderful time on their trip and it was nice to catch up with them and hang out with the fam. and then today was my productive day, because i NOT ONLY cleaned my closet and [some of] my condo but i also COOKED. this is sad, but i have a very short list of meals that i make for myself to eat on the reg, and it consists of: 1.) pasta, 2.) grilled cheese, 3.) quesadillas, 4.) a salad, 5.) peanut butter toast, and 6.) cereal. i know, i know, i go to culinary school and should be able to raise the bar higher than THAT for dinner, but the reality is, i’m cooking at school and busy all the time and very short on free time and it’s just me, so why spend a lot of time making all these elaborate meals for myself? it’s just not high on my priority list at this stage in my life. so yeah, cooking is sort of a big deal around here these days. but i suppose that’s what sundays are for. today i made my rendition of a wheat berry risotto with butternut squash and bacon and it was yum. and i now have leftovers for the next two weeks [the joys of living alone].
and finallyyy, i went with my friend laura today to a warby parker pop-up shop to help her pick out some glasses and fell in love with several pairs myself… and by that, i mean basically the whole store [i don’t need glasses but i’m totally a wannabe wearer, as you probably know from some of the pics that i’ve posted on here in which i’m wearing some black frames that i bought that have non-prescription clear lenses. what am i in, like second grade?? but warby parker’s sunglasses… omg]. i have held off from purchasing… for now. and then we got pedis and i marooned out my toenails in support of my beloved aggies, so it was prettyyyyyy much a stellar sunday. [the ags barely scraped by with a win yesterday against arkansas, and we have some tough games ahead of us, so i’ll be doing my due diligence as a member of the 12th man to cheer hard {yell loud}.] :)
but enough of my blabbing. is this a selfie sunday post, or what? i guess that calls for a selfie! …
{…if i really need to have a caption, it’s “getting ready to head to the grocery store.” exciting stuff.}
i hope you all had a fun weekend as well! have a happy monday. xoxo
