although it feels like [and pretty much was] forever ago, it’s so fun looking back on these august adventures! jamie and i started off the month with an amazing concert at red rocks [yes, we had a fight, but yes, it was worth it], we celebrated our one year anniversary, we had a fun saturday with derek and morgan, aaaaaand enjoyed the rest of the month thoroughly. i should also mention that august in denver is AH-mazing and being the texas girl that i am, i completely relished every gorgeous minute of that month. here are a whole lotta fun pics from a whole lotta fun times:
{spotted on a run and i just thought it was pretty…}
{we saw that sign on the left next to that piece of wood at the door of someone’s apartment in jamie’s building. the welcome mat was definitely a girl’s… this guy should win an award for his flirtation methods because they are pretty clever. ;) on the right, we had to grab something out of jamie’s truck real quick and ended up both wearing socks and moccs like a couple of dorks. *we so secksay.* for the record, jamie did NOT want me to take this pic. and obviously i didn’t listen.} ;)
{sooooo my mimi has lots of historic family treasures that she loves to share with anyone who might appreciate them. her mother had a tiny dutch shoe collection, and jamie is dutch, so when he came to the farm in june, she asked him if he would like a few little pairs of shoes. he took the ones above – the tiniest pair is less than an inch long, and one day i was over at his house and saw the two larger pairs displayed by his framed photos, but noticed the smallest pair was tucked inside one of the bigger shoes. i asked jamie why the tiniest one was tucked away where people couldn’t see it, and he responded that he didn’t want anyone to think it was an “announcement” of some sort. i died laughing, not having thought of that, but i have to say that it kind of makes sense. i took a picture of the three of them, and then took the tiny pair back home to my house.} ;)
{remember how i mentioned in this post that on our anniversary, we went to a quinceañera for my QA tech’s daughter? well now you get to see the pictures… and boy, was it elaborate.}
{the entryway into the ballroom}
{check out the size of that dress!!}
{there were little girls in ruffly dresses too, plus a doll with a matching dress}
{all the boys in the court of honor before the procession}
{the birthday girl, aylin, processing down with her dad [my former QA tech]}
{the father-daughter dance. it was so fun to experience this whole night!}
{every time we go to snooze, i always get the “sam i am,” so one day jamie made me his version and it was SO good! we’ve had it several times since. it’s basically just a sausage patty, cheddar, and an egg on a pretzel bun. so simple [and unhealthy], but so tasty.}
{here it is up close, plated so beautifully by my jamie boy. [insert alllllll the heart eyes!!!]}
{i love the sign on the left and the mural on the right, both spotted in rino.} :)
{my company had me do a food safety talk for a freddy’s conference in breckenridge, and i stayed at beaver run resort the night before the talk. this was the rainy evening that i got in.}
{dinner and a pinot from the willamette valley at twist while i studied my notes for my presentation! i had mexican cauliflower [palisade purples and romanesco roasted cauliflower, paprika, cilantro, cotija cheese, goat horn pepper aioli… definitely my favorite], ropa vieja pork taco [pork shoulder roasted with tomato, onions and jalapeños, cotija cheese, rivera aguacate sauce, corn tortilla], and cold ramen salad [daikon, bell peppers, cucumbers, scallion ginger sauce].}
{good morning, breck!}
{my morning view}
{the food safety talk went well and i was so glad to have that behind me!}
{after it was over, i had a quick bite to eat in town and then headed back down the mountains to regular life again.} ;)
{jamie and his family are the bomb.com. i came home from my work trip to breck to find my whole place perfectly cleaned [the cleaning elf struck again, he’s the sweetest!!], gorgeous flowers on the counter, and the most lovely book from his dear mother that i’ve had my eye on for some time. she sent it to me for no reason, just out of the goodness of her sweet little heart. they are so kind and i love them. totally made my day! aaaand on the right, bacon social house!}
{i wouldn’t necessarily recommend bacon social house for their avocado toast [although i did like their idea of putting strawberries, feta, and sunflower seeds on top]… but i make a mean avocado toast so i’m a little biased. ;) i would, however, tell you to come here for the BACON for sure. i had a personalized bacon flight and it was so good!}
{jamie gets told by a lot of people [including, but not limited to, me] that he looks like chris pratt! amiright???}
{on the left, poke from pokecity, our favorite! on the right, peach ancho sangria [white wine, citronage, peach purée, ancho reyes verde, pina citrus juice, sprite] plus chips and salsa and tacos on the rooftop of los chingones!}
{s’mores and relaxation [and some live death cab for cutie playing in the background, since they were playing a concert right next to my apartment! badass]. it was a perfect saturday night!}
{lunch at mercantile with jamie’s brother eric and sister-in-law jen!}
{i was totally blown away by the kindness and thoughtfulness of a sweet friend. she sent me this care package knowing that work was pretty exhausting ate the time – what a lovely surprise to start off my big BRC audit week! krista, you are a wonderful human being.}
{hello there, denver!}
{peach panzanella, the first recipe i made from the forest feast, my new book from jamie’s mom! it may not have looked as great as the photos from the book [which would be quite the feat to be accomplished since they are gorgeous], but i added hot italian sausage and this meal was easy, fresh, and fantastic. summer meals are the best meals!}
{a rose bath the night before my big audit at work, thanks to the pretty flowers that my sweet boyfriend gave me.}
{SO happy that our BRC audit was OVER! celebrating with a rockies game and a summer shandy. i was very happy that it was a success and also very happy to have more free time!}
{my first time at coors field!}
{this is a fun stadium and the views don’t suck either.}
{the flowers in union station are always on point.}
{some photos of some people i love that were texted to me. :) dad and mike enjoying a brew!}
{mimi, mike, and mom!}
{mom, mike, and dad! i miss all of them so much, and i do love receiving cute pics of them.} :)
{here’s one of our little golden boy too!}
{and then we had that epic solar eclipse, a.k.a. the great american eclipse! [someday years from now, when my future kid or someone else reads this post, they might have no clue about this eclipse that was all over the news and the talk for days… so let me tell you about it. it was a total solar eclipse visible within a band that spanned the entire contiguous united states, passing from the pacific to the atlantic coasts. we had a pretty good view of it here in denver.] anyway, jamie actually left work and drove all the way to my job so that we could see it together! and all the management at the plant went outside with these special glasses to try to see it [so they didn’t damage their eyes]… jamie and i borrowed some. and we did see it! we tried taking photos and most of them looked like this…}
{…but jamie was able to get this one, which was pretty cool. when the eclipse actually happened in denver, the light got really weird and kind of dark and everything had this strange glow. it felt like we were living in an instagram filter there for a bit!}
{afterward, jamie and i went over to denver central market for lunch before we both had to get back to work.}
{this peach salad from green seed market in denver central market was amazing!}
{i love where i live.}
{gorgeous post-audit flowers from jamie’s sweet mother and sister. they are seriously the best.}
{and i’m so thankful that this man is good with cars. because mine is old and has a lot of problems, haha.}
{avocado toast for breakfast}
{our shiner boy in his bike seat. don’t be fooled by his uneasy expression though – he loves going for rides!}
{brunch at gozo!}
{jamie’s salmon benedict was pretty so i took a pic! also, there on the right, more [homemade] avocado toast! we’re fans.}
{look how cute larimer square is with all the colorado flags!}
{pool days with drinks and friends… a glorious part of summer}
{my hot dinner date}
{we had a delicious dinner at charcoal bistro. this was fresh pappardelle pasta with arugula pesto, young squash, oven roasted tomatoes, parmigiano-reggiano, and micro basil.}
{love him and our fun times together.}
{the neighborhoods over by wash park in denver are the cutest!}
{i’m a proponent of after-church photos}
{downtown den… it’s fun to go for a run over here.}
{also taken from a run}
{from a date with noelle at tupelo honey!}
i felt like that was a never-ending post, haha. if you made it through that whole thing, you deserve a trophy! or at least a nap. ;) i don’t know how i managed to have my busiest work month and still jam-pack so many fun things into august! we had some great times and it sure makes me excited about this summer. xoxo
