the highlights of my april were getting to have some of my best friends in denver! i had julee here in early april and angela and travis and more of the montgomery crew here in late april. such fun with these friends! some other things that happened in april were: 1.) jamie took his PE test, which is a test for engineers after they’ve had a minimum of four years of post-college work experience in their chosen engineering discipline in order to become a licensed engineer. this is a big deal and required a lot of studying, so jamie was much happier once he had that done! [spoiler alert: although he had to wait until the end of may to get his results, he did pass, which was great news! way to go jamie boy!]. and 2.) while he was in south dakota taking the exam in mid-april, i went back to texas for a quick weekend with my parents to get some wedding items accomplished! so that was fun. here are a few photos from the month of april:
{first up, we have an amazing bahn mi from vinh xuong bakery at zeppelin station. so freaking good. and some ramen from the basement of izakaya ronin right across the street from me. it’s the best ramen i’ve had so far in denver!}
{happy siblings day to my one and only favorite sibling [right now]! ;) even though i’ll have gained a lot more siblings by this time next year, you’ll always be the OG. i love you brother bear!}
{a little chalkboard message for jamie before his big test.}
{one of my new favorite restaurants in denver, bang up to the elephant! yes, it has a funny name, but this place is awesome. it’s caribbean food, with a “calypso-inspired” menu. so fun!}
{haha, love it. noelle was the one who told me about this place and i tried it for the first time with her!}
{and yep, i’ve already been back since!}
{this might be the first time i’ve ever had a mermaid in my drink!}
{i loved the curry and heat in a lot of the dishes.}
{home sweet home}
{crawfish season!! my favorite time of year in texas!}
{just doing some wedding cake research at creme de la creme!}
{we tried out a new brewery in mansfield, dirty job brewing. this town is really growing up!}
{drinks + dinner with mike and mimi at la cima}
{i love our porch.}
{more crawfish!}
{on the left, you know it’s been a great day when you have a texas-flag-painted bucket o’ crawfish shells in front of you and it’s full. and on the right, a little hand-dipped minty treat from camille’s at the DFW airport!}
{every time i come home from texas, colorado presents these amazing views to me on my drive home from the airport! it kind of cures any homesickness.} ;)
{this one is blurry, but it was so pretty in real life.}
{spring in denver!}
{…and YET. we still got one or two days of this in april!}
{jamie and i shared a honeydew boba tea for dinner…}
{…and some mango milk snow because we thought we would still be hungry, but guess what?! it was ENORMOUS. but i fell complete in love with milk snow… it’s kind of like sweet, creamy shaved ice with fruit syrup and condensed milk and frozen fruit and these little bursting popping boba juice balls. complete heaven. we ate the rest for breakfast the next day!}
{sometimes on friday nights, we go walk around the asian grocery stores together. ;) but seriously. it is my idea of fun. my dad was making fun of me for it – he said, “oh, you guys are cool. kinda reminds me of living in blytheville, arkansas and walking around walmart on friday nights with mom because that’s all there was to do.” hahaha.}
{a rainy view of denver from my dentist’s office.}
{i meant to post this picture in this post, but when angela and travis visited, they gave us the cutest gifts! this bag that says “future mrs. veurink,” wine bottles with our engagement photos on the labels, an adorable bride shirt and the cutest wine glasses which you will see a close-up of in a future post! ;) thank you so much angela and travis! you guys are the best.}
{another blooming tree!}
{my dad sent us this cute picture of my mom and shiner. so sweet!}
{i love my mountain views in the morning.}
{more spring scenes}
{for some reason that little birds nest in that droopy tree just made my heart melt.}
onto may!
