keeping this intro short and sweet for time’s sake – photos from our june are below!
{first up, we had a going-away party for my dear coworker kenny on june 1! kenny got promoted to QA manager at our plant in georgia and i’m so proud of him! we sure do miss him.}
{we all made a bunch of food… it was truly an amazing spread! and there’s my little buddy [the son of one of my employees] showing off his black tongue from the cake!}
{sweets…}
{…and here’s that cake up close! one of our QAs had it made for kenny – it’s hilarious because that QA happens to be a die-hard raiders fan and kenny is a chiefs fan since he’s from kansas city. it’s been an ongoing joke with those two, so our QA had to rub it in a little…} ;)
{a cute bouquet at our table while dining al fresco at the arvada tavern.}
{time for a weekend hike! this one was in mount galbraith park in golden. i don’t like that picture of myself above, but i wanted to document the moment. ha.}
{pretty countryside}
{and i just had to post some pictures from a trip to italy that my parents took with mimi and nama! they were in positano, capri, rome, and tuscany. maybe some other places too…}
{i hope someday i can still travel to europe in my 80s! these ladies have it going on!}
{some of my favorites in that picture} :)
{doesn’t that trip just look like it was divine? sure would have liked to tag along if i didn’t have to work!!!!}
{noelle and i tried this new place called super mega bien in the ramble hotel in rino. it’s latin american dim sum, where they bring out these little dishes on carts and you pick what you want. such a fun idea!}
{they had this amazing wine float to share – it had a refreshing chilean white wine with a scoop of a fruit-and fresh-mint sorbet [not too sweet] floating in it… so freaking good.}
{on the left, a lamb shank lollipop! and on the right, stuffed squash blossoms. so tasty.}
{a latin caprese salad and some wings!}
{it’s safe to say that i’m obsessed with snowl and their milk snow.}
{on the left, that milk snow is just too good. and on the right, one of my favorite homemade meals lately – blanched broccoli with lean ground beef, ginger and garlic, carrots, shishito peppers, red thai chili peppers and basil in a sweet thai chili basil and lime sauce, served over lemongrass coconut basmati rice.}
{jamie and i checked out a new place in downtown, dairy block, which was once home to windsor dairy but is now full of all-new restaurants, bars, and shops. we absolutely loved it.}
{the designers of this place get an A+}
{looked like a fun bar}
{lol}
{dranks!}
{colorful colorado}
{hello, handsome.}
{pastaholics anonymous. okay, not so anonymous.}
{these are horrible photos, but the décor of dairy block is just so creative and fun!}
{love this quote!}
{sunday supper: hawaiian pork bowls with my own flair. brown rice with sautéed pineapple and red and orange bell peppers, avocado slices, and slow-cooked pork. the sauce had pineapple juice, tomato sauce, and lots of chili powder and cumin [among other things], and i added caribbean jerk seasoning for a kick plus some curry power. i really think that brought it to the next level. jamie adored it and so did i… this recipe is definitely going down in the books!}
{something cool about my neighborhood: it used to be a sketchy, scary, industrial place, and now it’s completely the the opposite – probably the most fun neighborhood in denver now. but i find snippets of its history popping up in my life. the facility where i work is very near to rino [just a couple minutes away], and we’re in the midst of watching the neighborhoods around us transform. the plant in the picture above is in the middle of rino, but is no longer operating. our USDA inspector actually used to inspect this plant on his circuit, and used to go to billy’s gourmet hot dogs for lunch. now the building has been redone, and it’s turned into a cool shop. i don’t know why i find it so fascinating, but it feels like my home and work and social life have all kind of collided into this crazy little world and it’s all my backyard.}
{why did the geese cross the road?}
{on the left, more of my lovely little neighborhood. and there on the right is a mexican-style caprese [with queso fresco instead of mozz and cilantro instead of basil]. i’ve literally been eating caprese [either my mexican version above or the traditional italian version] every evening for dinner for like the past two months. it doesn’t get old!}
{my parents sent me this cute pic of shiner. it looks so peaceful and reminds me of lots of evenings on the porch or by the fire table with my family. such good times have been had here.}
{american bonded for drinks on the rooftop.}
{people watching.}
{gingham twins, haha! i can’t believe i get to marry him in less than three months!}
{there’s this cool new store that opened up in rino. so fun to look around.}
{we heart barcelona wine bar!}
{on the left, this amazing chorizo with sweet and sour figs and balsamic glaze. soooo yummy! and on the right, sunset on the rooftop of the new odell taproom in rino.}
{photos never do these colorado sunsets justice.}
{at c squared ciders, where they have giant-sized cornball and beer pong!}
{flowers from my honey. he picks out the best bouquets!}
{on the left, fresh watermelon mules are our favorite in summertime. and on the right, we love the yeti cups that linda and noel gave us as an engagement present!}
{the only way i ever wear a baseball cap. #gangsta. aaaaaaand just being silly… you can call me watermelondrea.} ;) ;)
{stumbled across this friday night bazaar at BOOZ hall rino.}
{friday night bazaar was, well, a little bizarre. but cool.}
{a cute painted building in rino. it has a scandinavian flair, no?}
{the rino dino, spotted on a walk.}
{not another sunset over the mountains!}
{bigsby’s folly from the pedestrian bridge. this place is fun!}
{s’mores at the fire pit in my courtyard. and a festive pre-fourth of july outfit because i never get dressed up on the weekdays anymore.} :(
{drinks at bar fausto with jamie and my friend kyle who came in town for an interview! it was so great to see him.}
{we love you, colorado.}
that is all. xoxo
