well, we’ve hit the big 5-0 for sunday goodness posts! there was lots of goodness to be enjoyed this weekend, and i’m feeling pretty thankful for that. and one of these bits of goodness was getting to spend time with my dear family this weekend when they came to help me with all my home projects this weekend. it might seem like i spend a lot of time with them [i do], but i honestly love it so much! what can i say?! these are my people and i like them.
besides hanging pictures and moving furniture and rotating rugs and building furniture, we… 1.) ate lunch together on the terrace, just before the rain came!
{i made pulled pork sandwiches and this salad, but with fresh raw corn added. it was my first time making the salad and i will definitely be making it again!}
2.) we all tasted the first beer that mike and dad brewed! not bad, gentlemen!!
{cheers to the beginning of kojder & ko brews!} ;)
3.) we got crawfish and snow crab from shell shack and brought it back to my place for dinner… it was such a fun thing to do and soooooo good! and bringing it home was the best idea ever because the wait is always like 2 hours at shell shack and it’s super noisy and packed inside. it was very messy [we had to eat inside because it was rainy outside] but totally worth it, and the mess was nothing that a little post-dinner clean-up couldn’t fix! also, i don’t know why i never used gloves to eat crawfish before, but it’s a fantastic idea. no smelling like crawfish for the rest of the day, no orange-tinted fingernails or burning fingertips. brilliant, i say.
4.) we ate strawberry shortcake for dessert [not pictured]! the strawberries around here have been really really good lately. also, in my humble [okay, maybe not so humble] personal opinion, i think strawberry shortcake should only be eaten with homemade shortcakes and real whipped cream and macerated fresh strawberries. i hope you guys don’t think i’m a brat now. but it’s just that if you taste them this way, it’s very hard to ever go back to anything else! and they’re very easy to make too.
5.) we witnessed our boy shiner do crazy things like pick up his food and water bowl and carry them around the house so they dump all over and chew on pieces of tape/paper/whatever he can find and fit in his mouth like a person chews gum. ;) he is very funny and sometimes exhausting…but i’m telling you, this dog is so dang cute!
and if that’s not a whole buncha goodness, i don’t know what is. :) have a great week, friends!
