back in april, you might recall that i took a work trip to germany, denmark, and ireland and ended up taking an extra day and half in dublin. i was supposed to leave on thursday afternoon, but instead i went out on saturday morning, so i had all day friday to explore the city/surrounding area. even though i was by myself, it was such a blast! here are some photos from the first half of my friday [yeahhh, i know, i take a lot of pictures]:
{first stop: keoghs cafe for an iced peach muffin [um, YUM] and a cappuccino. it’s funny because i never order cappuccinos in america, but in europe i can’t get enough of them!}
{those flower markets get me every time}
{also. multi-colored buildings.}
{cuteness.}
{the flowers at this place}
{i had to take pics at the little pedestrian bridge over the liffey}
{selfies. because i’m in ireland…}
{so THIS is the famous temple bar! we became well-acquainted later that night…} ;)
{i don’t know if you can read the sign painted in the window panes there on the left, but i like it.}
{the colors. even the posts in front!}
{because i love love love pendant garlands/banners/flags/whatever you wanna call them.}
{avoca, the anthropologie of ireland! with a food section and cafe even! and i wouldn’t mind a little balcony terrace like this one on the right…}
{goodies!}
{the food section of avoca}
{i was still full from breakfast and extremely disappointed about that fact with all the deliciousness of avoca right there at my fingertips, but i settled on this elderflower and pear number to take with me and wasn’t sorry about it. also, i love their store window.}
{more of st. stephen’s green}
{i attempted to get a photo with the red tulips and instead caught some lady taking off with another lady’s wallet in the background. okay, that didn’t really happen, but it kind of looks like it.}
{i couldn’t stop taking photos of this pretty pink tree! it’s lovely, isn’t it?}
{and this.}
{i was fortunate to get to stay two nights at the fitzwilliam [very chic] and then i stayed at the inn on the liffey the last night. it was definitely a downgrade, but i didn’t mind because although it wasn’t fancy or spacious, it was clean and cheap and in a perfect location [right on the river]. and the people at the front desk were very helpful.}
{my room had a simple view of the neighborhood rooftops, but i counted at least 9 church steeples that towered above them when i looked out that single window. it made me happy.}
{for lunch-on-the-go: it was kind of like a calzone.}
{the statue on the right is daniel o’connell, often referred to as the liberator because he led a movement that successfully forced the british to pass the catholic emancipation act of 1829, allowing catholics to sit in parliament.}
the last of my time in ireland will be posted soon!
