in early december, i took my final trip to denver before i actually moved there. this was the visit that i talked about in this post where i was already planning on visiting jamie and then had to go to a production run in denver a day early… definitely a weird coincidence that worked out really well. as always, we had a lot of fun, especially with the anticipation of me moving there soon. :)
{it was really cold the first few days that i was in denver… the forecast was blowing my mind! it was my first time in temperatures in the negatives [at least that i remember]. this was a good taste of what’s to come!!}
{trying to stay warm in that single-digit weather!}
{breakfast by myself at four friends kitchen while jamie and noelle were at work.} :)
{smoked brisket hash & eggs: hickory smoked beef brisket, BBQ house potatoes, grilled onions, green chilies, peppers, blended cheese and red chili ranchero sauce with cornbread and two eggs, over medium.}
{lovely larimer square, all decked out for christmas!}
{this.}
{sushirrito got me hooked on sushi burritos. this one was from komotodo. my only complaint was that the rice was cold, but i’m willing and ready to try it again!}
{dinner with a couple of jamie’s friends at homegrown tap & dough.}
{lots of snow! but by the end of the trip, the highs during the day were in the 60s! not too bad.}
{i visited noelle at her new [and furnished] home and then we walked to one of the local spots in her neighborhood for lunch. this was a cozy meal on a cold day. can’t believe that i live just a little over a mile from her now! lots of great times to come!}
{jamie took me on a date to this amazing sushi place called izakaya den. we wanted pictures since we were all dressed up but we kept having lighting issues…}
{…finally got a good one!}
{the hibiscus fizz: st. george terror gin, hibiscus syrup + egg white foam. i loved that candied hibiscus garnish!}
{the sushi was sooooo good.}
{on saturday morning, we woke up super early to go skiing at keystone. i took lots of pictures on the way because the sunrise over the mountains was gorgeous…}
{into a tunnel}
{these views were too much.}
{keystone!}
{at the top of the mountain! photo credit: jamie. why don’t i just have him take all my pictures????}
{when you screenshot a stock photo so the resolution is terrible and your ski clothes are hella bulky [and unflattering] and you look like you’re biting your lip from the cold… but you gotta document the moment. ;) i’m determined to become a better skier these next couple years!}
{it was pretty snowy on our way back home. the crazy part was, by the time we got back down to denver, it was in the 60s! it’s so crazy to me!}
{i’m looking off in the wrong direction [hello space cadet] but he looks good.} ;)
{that evening after skiing, we met up with jamie’s friends micah and amy at their house for game night, complete with pineapple margs! aaaand i knew the moment that i walked into their house that amy and i would be instant friends – their home was all decked out in anthropologie decor!} ;)
{in front of micah and amy’s beautiful tree!}
{i’m obviously a texan because scenes like this still get me.}
{a perfect sunday morning at my new favorite spot in denver – beatrice & woodsley.}
{i’m obsessed…}
{french press.}
{on the left, we shared monkey brains!! ;) and on the right, the hot tamale: adobo pork, sunny egg, salsa, creme fraiche.}
{jamie moved to a different apartment the week after i visited so this was my last time to see this apartment!}
{him.}
i have a feeling that we’ll reminisce on these “perfect” weekends when we were just sooooo thrilled to see each other and to get to spend time together. you sure don’t take it for granted when you’re long distance! but we’re starting a new chapter and that will be fun too. next up will be a december post!
