i told my story of how i decided to move to denver here, and in that post, i promised to share more about my boyfriend jamie on this blog, so i guess it’s about time for me to do that. the first thing is that although jamie totally knows who he’s dating [and she happens to be a sharer and very active on social media! :)], i want to respect his privacy first and foremost. this is one of the reasons i haven’t shared anything on here and only recently just started posting pics of us on fb and insta… and also i didn’t want people to think i was moving to denver for jamie since the timing of everything sure made it seem possible. but that’s not the case, and in noelle’s words, he’s just the icing on the cake! some really sweet icing. :)
anyway, i’ve struggled with how to introduce him on here since we’ve actually been dating for almost 6 months, and we have lots of photos together that i omitted from my posts but that i am ready to share now! this blog is my “memory keeper” of sorts and i would hate for these memories to get lost in the shuffle or the photos to never be posted. soooooo i decided to just put all the photos from all our weekends together [up until the point in time that is current to the blog] in this post as i briefly introduce him and tell our story, and then after this we’ll continue business as usual, only without him eliminated from my posts. how’s that sound?
so here we go! we met on friday, august 5th… i was in denver for work and went early so i could spend the weekend with noelle, and she invited a bunch of her friends to come meet us out at hi-dive, this funky little dive bar, for “guilty pleasures” night, which is basically a dance party for the best of the 70s, 80s, 90s, and 2000’s [it’s super fun]. she invited a bunch of people, and one of them was a guy that she had gone on a date with recently, dave, and dave brought several of his friends, one of whom was jamie. i noticed that he was tall and good looking right away but honestly wasn’t looking to meet anyone [it’s always going to happen when you’re not looking, ha], so even though jamie and i started making small talk at some point, i sort of “spread myself out” at first because i told myself that i didn’t want to only talk to one person the whole night.
BUT somehow jamie and i kept finding each other and chatting, and i found out pretty quickly that i liked his personality too. he was just such a good, wholesome guy – came from a small town, smart, fun, had a good job, and happened to have a killer smile that made me weak at the knees. ;) at some point, i stopped trying to avoid too much conversation, and we ended up talking a lot and dancing the night away, he kissed me, we exchanged numbers, and we said goodbye. [unbeknown to me at the time, his friends had left him and his phone had died, but he ended up getting a taxi home so it all worked out!]
we both texted that we’d had a great night, and he told me that he wanted to take me on a date and to let him know if i was able to do that while i was in town or meet up for a double date with noelle and dave. noelle and i were busy for the rest of the weekend, but we ended up making a plan with them on tuesday, the day before i left. we met at linger, had a drink and some apps, then walked over to forest room 5 and went to one other place [can’t remember what it was called] before we ended the night. jamie was super sweet and we laughed a lot and just had a really fun time.
{this was from that double date! noelle and dave didn’t end up dating, but we love them both dearly and feel pretty glad that they were able to “help” us meet!}
after that, i went back to dallas and i honestly don’t know how or why, but we kept talking. at that time, jamie knew that i wanted to be in denver and was working on it, but nothing was set in stone. i don’t think either of us really expected it to go anywhere, but we enjoyed talking. we texted, then started talking on the phone more and more [hours at a time, ha]… and then started visiting each other every three weeks, and really the rest is history. [after the weekend we met, we took turns visiting each other literally every three weeks for 5.5 months until i moved to denver, minus one time, when it was four weeks instead of three weeks]. over those months, we realized how much we have in common, and we both believe that the Lord crossed our paths with purpose on that night in denver. irregardless of what the future brings, we feel thankful that we met and excited to have an opportunity to experience life together in the same city.
{a couple snapshots from lookout mountain!}
so without invading his privacy, here are 5 things that might help you get to know jamie a little better:
{we look a little silly in these because we’re having to look down at the camera but this is at the chapel of thanks-giving in dallas…it has these gorgeous stained glass windows that form a spiral going up.}
1. he is a man of faith in the Lord and in Jesus Christ as our redeemer and savior. this is super important to me, and i’m really thankful that we share the same spiritual beliefs.
{these are from an aggie game watch at the eberhard in dallas with my friend lauren and her boyfriend at the time, bennett. i was glad that jamie was willing to jump on the aggie bandwagon!!} :)
2. he grew up in a small town in south dakota. like, a really small town. i’m pretty sure he was like the first person i had met from south dakota, ever! gotta love a small town boy though – he’s such a sweetheart.
{at bishop arts in dallas}
3. he’s a structural engineer and has a masters degree. he went to south dakota state university, he works for a pretty well-known engineering company, and he has experience in construction as well. most of his engineering talk goes over my head, but i’m learning. :)
{jamie and his friend dave’s dog, morgan. she loves him!}
4. i’m exactly one week older than him! i was born february 22, 1990, and he was born march 1, 1990. on leap years, we’re a week and a day apart.
{after another aggie game watch, this time in denver!}
5. he is the third of four kids – he has two older brothers and a younger sister. the dynamics of a family with four kids are so interesting and fun to hear about!
{we love cuddling with morgan!}
so that’s a little about my jamie boy! if you’re wondering, he has met my family and they like him. :) i haven’t had a chance to meet his family yet but it should be happening in the near future!
{walking around breckenridge!}
one more piece to our story… even though neither one of us dated anyone else after we met and basically considered ourselves to be “together”/dating, jamie officially asked me to be his girlfriend on november 11. he made me wait!! ;) but he’s old-fashioned in that way and i like it!
i’m sure you’ll be seeing more adventures of ours as we experience being in denver together. here are a few more photos that will catch us up to december:
{roadtrip from dallas to college station!}
{being here with my man was pretty magical.} :)
{we met up with several of my friends, including angela and travis, for the ole miss game! we didn’t win, but i was really happy that jamie got to experience aggieland and meet my people.}
{at the game! with epic kyle field in the background.}
…and that should just about catch you guys up to where the blog left off!
i’m a lucky girl. xoxo
