remember that one time when i went to argentina with my family?
yeah, i know, it feels like a long time ago for me too.
well since then i’ve been furiously trying to sort and edit the 900+ pictures from that trip [that number doesn’t even include the iphone pics!] between decorating/organizing my new apartment, work, culinary school, and my social life [which tends to involve lots of happy hours]. in other words, it’s a l o n g process. but we’re getting there. like a month later.
in any case, here’s the first batch of photos, starting with the buenos aires airport and our trip to iguazu falls.
{the view from the airport in BA}
{our first taste of argentina!}
{we stayed at the amerian hotel, which had a view of the point where the parana and iguazu rivers meet and the borders of brazil, paraguay, and argentina come together as well. the hotel was luxurious and the weather was perfect.}
{iguazu was a sleepy little town during the day, but we couldn’t believe how lively it was at night! we grew to love our walks into town for meals or to pick up this or that. there were lots of dogs that roamed around, and after one huge meal of steak, my dad carefully gathered up every last bit of his leftovers and put them in a bag to feed them. he was so excited on our walk back, whistling and calling for the dogs, but of course, much to his dismay, there wasn’t one in sight to enjoy his leftovers! the other three of us were quite amused.}
{we woke up early sunday morning, headed to iguazu national park, and spent the day exploring the majestic iguazu falls. they were incredible – we were completely blown away with their beauty.}
{the first part of the falls that we visited was garganta del diablo, or the devil’s throat. we took a footbridge across the river to get there, and the mist spraying upward from the force of the falls hitting the bottom could be seen from a distance. there was a platform right on the edge, and the thundering falls poured down from all sides into one spectacular “throat.” the cliffs were so tall in this spot and the mist so heavy that we couldn’t see the bottom of the falls, but it was fascinating to watch the water drop out of sight and the birds swoop down in the middle of it.}
sorry to leave you hanging, but it’s past my bedtime.
more iguazu falls pictures coming soon! :)
