julee and i met in third grade [or was it fourth?] playing soccer together on the hotshots, my old rec soccer team. later on, we became good friends playing basketball together in 7th and 8th grade, and because we were among the few kids from our junior high to go to “the new high school” – we totally got split up from the rest of the kids – we became even tighter in high school.
she convinced me to join student council freshman year; three years later, she would go on to be student body president and i, her vice president. we have fond memories of those student council events – dressing up as boys for the dress code skit at orientation, singing crazy songs at stuco camp, hanging out in the stuco room at lunch [we definitely thought we were way cool], being on the field at football games. and then there were the homecomings, prom, and graduation, where julee made the introductory speech. but most notable for me are all those times that we sat on the red couch in my gameroom talking for hours and hours about boy troubles and family troubles, of our hopes and dreams. julee is a great listener, and a great advice-giver. she has and always will be a very close friend of mine, and although adulthood has made it more difficult to spend as much time together as we would like, it is like no time has passed whenever i see her.
so there’s the background on this girl whom i love so much, and i was lucky to have her come visit me in late spring. she happened to be watching her niece, addison [i’ve always claimed to be addie’s “god aunt,” if there’s such a thing], and i so enjoyed getting to spend time with the both of them for the day. these are a few pictures of our afternoon:
{first stop: central market for some gelato! yummmm}
{aunt julee and addie – too cute!}
{pretty please can i be addie’s aunt too??}
{posing for the camera!}
{bffs}
{addie took this picture}
{“time to give the camera back. on the count of three…one…”}
{then we went on a trolley ride in uptown. this was waiting at the trolley stop, which is actually right in front of my condo but i wasn’t living here yet! the best part was addie: “what does this sign say? no puppies?” #almost}
{the vintage trolleys are free, which is completely awesome. we rode one right over to klyde warren park, a recently-built park in dallas that stretches over the highway between uptown and downtown dallas.}
{this park was seriously cool. i highly recommend it for adults or kids.}
{spinning. the whole playground made me want to be a kid again.}
{all the food trucks were posted up along the edge of the park.}
{we took the trolley back to uptown, had dinner at primo’s, and then i had to say goodbye to this spunky girl and her marvelous aunt julee.}
julee and addie, come back again soon! it was such fun spending time with you! <3
xoxo
