most of our days in seattle were partly sunny, partly cloudy, and were hit with a burst of mist or drizzle at some point during the day, as one might expect weather in seattle to be. in fact, we considered ourselves lucky to have seen the sun the majority of the days we were visiting. there was one evening after dinner, though, that the sky had cleared, and mom and i took a walk, just the two of us. dad had already left to go to work and mike had a social event with his co-workers [a hack-a-thon. no joke. this is what computer geeks do for fun. ha].
we started our walk during the “golden hour” – always my favorite time of day, the time before sunset when the sun is low in the sky and everything is either a bit shadowy or drenched in that lovely golden light. and because we were in the middle of the city, there were more shadows than usual, but the reflections on the glassy buildings were glowing with reflections – pinkish-orange kaleidoscopes of of color that lit up the skyline. i took picture after picture that evening, and decided to split up the photos into two posts to avoid boring you too much [i think the second post is going to blow your mind]. the pictures in this post mostly just remind me how much i love taking walks, especially after-dinner walks. and walks with my camera, because i see things that i don’t normally see. and this city, which is just stunning. always.
{mike’s apartment, via6. more pictures of his apt here.}
{that space needle has a way of hiding out in all my seattle pictures! :) photos from our trip up in the space needle here.}
{we found a giant popsicle!}
{i spy… a reflection of the space needle}
{being a total creeper but i couldn’t not take photos of two big versions of the luckydog! soooo cute.}
{can you see that glimmer of lake union?}
{because 22 is and always will be my lucky number!}
{and the reflection of the sunset on the numbers is the kind of thing i live for. yeah, i know i’m not normal.}
…and there’s always a part 2 with me. stay tuned. :)
