can we just talk about whiskey cake for a second? it might be old news, but this restaurant rocks my socks. seriously. farm-to-table, from-scratch-only, trendy, and amazing everything. i went there for the first time back in december with my friend noelle, who knows me well enough to know that i would fall in love with this place instantly [which i did]. and then i promptly took my family there the next week and got them addicted too. you might remember the “jessica wabbit” juice, my moscow mule, and the 3 little pigs from the beginning of this post.
anyway, i took some photos when i was there for the first time with noelle, and the pictures are notttt awesome, but i have to share + give a little shout-out to whiskey cake for their ridiculously good food and their ridiculously awesome cocktails. and no, this is not a sponsored post. i just like whiskey cake, okay?
{first time! woo-hoo!}
{hello, best drinks ever. i don’t remember what we ordered, but you can’t go wrong here…}
{we shared this… warm tx goat cheese fondue with “good olive oil,” kalamata olives, and bellaria tomato. soooo good.}
{and then we shared two entrees – the omg burger with o rings, criminis, port salut, grain mustard, and chili mayo on a challah bun AND the bbq bahn mi with roasted pork, tangy vegetables, cilantro, and asian bbq sauce on a crispy baguette…}
{…plus a side of mac…}
{…and then the famous whiskey cake! toffee torte, buffalo trace bourbon anglaise, spiced pecans, and fresh whipped cream. it’s enough to bring tears to your eyes. only we were so full, we each just took two bites and noelle was nice enough to let me take it home since i’d never had it before.}
{…so i heated it up in the microwave the next morning and ate it for breakfast. and purred the entire time. there’s a reason that they named the restaurant after this cake.}
yep, it was everything i dreamed of and more. now hurry up and come to uptown, whiskey cake!
