so it’s kinda the “half birthday” of these selfie sunday posts because i’ve been doing them for half a year today. six whole months of weekly challenges. and WOULDN’T YA KNOW that i wouldn’t get to my challenge this week because i was too busy celebrating the s.s. half birthday! happy birthday dear selfie sunday, happy birthday to you!
okay, so that wasn’t reallyyyyy the reason that i didn’t get to it… it had a little more to do with the fact that i was celebrating the weekend. because weekends should be celebrated, you know. and this one totally made my Top Weekends List.
our fall festival at work was on friday, and i was running the supply chain pumpkin painting booth. i had some great friends to help me, and we totally shut the place down. ;) i met katlyn afterward at so&so’s, which we’ve both been wanting to try. i definitely give it a thumbs up for both drinks and food. specifically, the summer succotash rocked my socks and so&so’s will always get five stars in my book as long as it’s on the menu. the next morning, i got up earlyish to go to a farmers market near my house, but unfortunately, there wasn’t one, as it turns out. it was supposed to be the last one of the year [according to la internet] but i guess they decided to quit a little early this year? disappointing, but i made up for it by stopping at sip|stir cafe for their famous cold brew which, on the other hand, did NOT disappoint. taste and caffeine content were top notch. it’s smooth and delicious and gave me the jitters for almost the entire day and i was even able to stay up past 11pm that night. so yeah. then i headed straight to denton [well, actually to the tiny little town of krum, tx, to be exact] to visit my one of my dearest old friends julee at her newly purchased home and meet her new puppy lila [cutest little baby dog ever] and have lunch at one of the three restaurants in the town [i’m only slightly exaggerating]. i miss that girl, and it was so fun to catch up. and my brother was playing tennis at UNT, so i spent the rest of the afternoon watching him with my parents and mimi. he won all his matches and they ended up winning the whole tournament so it was a good day to be watching some longhorn tennis! one of my friends from the produce industry, ben, was in town this weekend, so katlyn and i went out with him and some of his friends last night [and stayed out a littttttttle later than we planned. oops.], and then i met him and another friend of mine who works with him, jessica, at fernando’s for dinner today. they’re such awesome people and we had a blast. gosh, i just love produce people.
so now that i’ve given you the play-by-play which i’m sure was just fascinating for you all [can you see the sarcasm dripping off the text?], you have a full understanding of just why i wasn’t able to complete my challenge for this week. i’m full of lots and lots of great excuses, right? anyway, i’m going for attempt #2 at cleaning out the closet in my office/guest room. next weekend i’ll try to do a little less celebrating and a little more closet cleaning. we will see how it goes.
{it was a polkadot sort of day.}
even if i’m not successful at them every week, these challenges have pretty much been the best thing ever for my life. they help me work on things i wouldn’t normally think about working on and get stuff done that i wouldn’t normally make a priority. it’s amazing how much more productive you are when you’re holding yourself accountable for something. yay for six months of being more productive and six more to come! who knows, maybe i’ll even continue doing them after the year is up. :)
