poodles don’t shed, which means that going to the groomer once every few months is very necessary [much to lucky’s dismay]. over the years, he got many different haircuts from many different groomers, and while we always asked for a basic “puppy cut” with a scruffy face and no silly poofs, it turns out that everyone has a different idea about what this should look like. which can be very interesting/amusing/funny/embarrassing/all of the above.
when we thought we’d found a groomer that did a good job, someone new would come along or the place would go out of business, etc. so it felt like we were always on a quest to find him a good groomer. in the later years up until he died, we went with a grooming truck that would actually park in our driveway and groom him inside the truck, which lucky liked sooooo much better because it was less time spent at the groomer and he was in the comfort of his own driveway. that groomer did a good job most of the time, but the last time he groomed lucky, he gave him a skinny body and a huge head, which we all laughed about. i was watching lucky for the weekend right after he got groomed that time, and several people random people on the street/in petsmart commented, “he looks like a little lion!” i loved that little lion.
and because he was mr. personality, there were times when lucky took on different personas just by nature. we always called him a drama king because, well, that’s exactly what he was. such a character!! and a great one at that. so, without further ado:
{that hair}
{one time lucky went to a groomer called foxy pup, and they gave him a bad haircut and then proceeded to take his picture and put it on some business cards that they gave to us! we died laughing… for like weeks straight… and still pull out “lucky’s business cards” every now and again when we need a good laugh.}
