remember that time a whole year ago when the girls took a trip to paris and amsterdam? well, i never got around to posting all my amsterdam iphone pictures [nor any of my nikon photos. FAIL, i know], which is completely crazy because i’ve already been back to amsterdam since. so it’s definitely time.
so where were we? oh yes. eating breakfast in vondelpark and getting ready to visit the rijksmuseum.
{just your average cafe on the edge of a park…} ;)
{we ate breakfast here.}
{early morning.}
{in amsterdam, they eat dutch apple pie for breakfast. and i am a huge fan of pie for breakfast so triple bonus points for amster.}
{that little baby on the left was having a big time with his grandma and that croissant in his hand. and on the right, that guy totally thinks i’m a creeper, but i mean, come on. how can you expect an american girl to resist taking a photo of a cute little curly-haired dutch baby on his dad’s bike? #noshame}
{why are you so lovely, amsterdam?}
{the rijksmuseum.}
{the famous i amsterdam sign}
{what we learned at the rijksmuseum: that 17th-century dutch men were all about the accessories. more bows on their shoes, bows on their socks, pom-poms, lace, and silver and gold glitz in the threads of their clothes than you’d find in a five-year-old girl’s closet. it was quite humorous.}
{on the left: william II, prince of orange, age 14, and his bride, mary stuart anthony van dyck, age 9, on the occasion of their wedding. i’m pretty sure that mary thinks her new husband has cooties… and doesn’t that pup there on the left look like such a nice and honest fella?}
{the library at the rijksmuseum}
{those windows.}
{it was a gorgeous museum.}
{mimi and me!}
{hansel and gretel cafe? and a pedal party!}
{an amsterdam lunch}
{more of the city’s charm}
{“handmade right here.”}
{people watching in amsterdam is the best.}
{dogs of amsterdam}
{we really liked amsterdam’s public transportation system.}
{and i love that we were there during the world cup!}
{little pink.}
{along the canals.}
{this was so awesome to me – a bunch of people, probably in their late teens/early twenties, having a “parking spot party” on the canal. they had set up this table and some orange bunting and brought out chairs and beanbags and were drinking coke and beer and eating prosciutto-wrapped cantaloupe. i mean, how fun is that?}
{and on 4th of july – some people were having an independence day party! american expats, no doubt! this girl standing at the door with the guest list was wearing her stars and stripes. :) we watched as people dressed in red, white, and blue started trickling in…}
{dinner at restaurant de luwte. we had some pretty delicious seafood.}
{andddddd we found a shop named after mimi.} :)
more to come!
