back in june before our europe trip, i took a work trip to colorado and was able to tack on a visit to see noelle in denver the weekend prior to the trip. [this is one of my favorite pictures from that visit. it captures noelle’s cat fluffy + that bright denver sun streaming in + our lazy mornings and you can almost feel that cool breeze flowing in through the screened door, all of which makes my heart happy.]
i really can’t believe that noelle has lived in denver for over a year now! i miss her so much, but it was a great move for her and she’s really happy there. and also. her living in denver = me getting to visit her in denver. so maybe it’s sort of win-win if you consider my love for that city? i SUPPOSE. although it mostly still feels like i’m losing because she’s not here, but what is a girl to do? love her anyway. :) here were some of our adventures…
{first thing after getting in on saturday morning was lunch at whiskey tango foxtrot.}
{we went halvsies on everything because that’s what we do. it’s what i love about her.}
{selfie time…}
{…but this one won. i captioned it, “we’re not having any fun. so mad that we have to see each other.”}
{they’ve turned union station into this cool hangout place with great places to eat and drink.}
{there was a chalk art festival going on that afternoon, which was SO cool.}
{so many talented artists! some of them looked really young, too.}
{the craziest thing was that it had rained [HARD] for a while earlier in the day, so the majority of the chalk art was completely washed away and they were restarting when we got there. it was sad that all their work from the morning was gone, but we were happy that many of them had restarted because it really was neat to watch.}
{sausage fest!}
{i don’t know what this is going to be, but next time, i’ll go here.} ;)
{the river was extra lively after all the flooding}
{we waited in a pretty long line to get some ice cream from little man, but it was well worth the wait!}
{when noelle kept telling me to hold the ice cream cone up a little higher to cover the lady behind me’s head…}
{i love how walkable denver is.}
{for dinner, we met some friends at a place called root down. aaaaand there was a small rainbow in the distance as we were walking in.}
{root down is an old garage converted to a delicious farm-to-table style restaurant.}
{ahh, that view}
{sharing is caring. trying a little bit of everything is what i do best!}
{the next morning: porch sittin’}
{the old south pearl farmers market. it was such a good one.}
{noelle and i shared pork tamales and the best quesadilla ever at the farmers market.}
{sweet boy}
{a pineapple cilantro pop! [insert a smiley with heart eyes here]}
{i love her}
{checking out red rocks. i was in awe}
{i couldn’t get over this amphitheatre. going to a concert here is now officially on the to-do list!}
{you just can’t beat that view.}
{we laugh a lot.}
{into the mountains}
{snowcaps! and that little house down there made me happy.}
{we stumbled upon this little lake up there in the mountains and it was so peaceful.}
{because when you’re from texas, you just have to take a photo when you see snow in june.}
{coors field}
{at viewhouse}
{we had dinner at ophelia’s, “a gastrobrothel, culinary emporium and musical haberdashery.” if you’re wondering about the gastrobrothel piece, it’s because the building used to be an old brothel back in the day.}
{i ordered a korean-style ostrich burger, but they were out of ostrich so they asked if yak would do. fine by me! it was really good – reminded me a bit of bison.}
{i loved these bathroom stalls made of old rulers!}
{and then this sunset…}
{on monday, noelle went to work and i worked at union station for a while until it was time to meet up with my coworkers.}
{union station was a cool place to hang out…with lots of tempting treats. cue the latte + maple bacon donut. worth the cals, definitely! thank you noelle for making the visit such a blast!}
i miss my denver girl so much and hope to get to see her reeeeeal soon. xo
