back in may, my mom hosted a bridal shower for my longtime friend brittni [we met when i was four and our families were in the same church group for years] with the help of a couple other ladies in our church group. i got enlisted for help too, which made me happy! brittni and her fiancé robbie are into wine, so she decided a wine-themed shower would be fun. this was pretty much THE perfect theme for my parents to host, since their house is already very wine-themed as it is, plus they have lots of other fun wine stuff that they can pull out for parties. we also threw in some paris-themed items into the mix because robbie’s parents have an apartment in paris and brittni and robbie have gone to visit several times [they even had engagement photos taken in front of the eiffel tower!]. it just fit in nicely with the wine theme. carole and katrina, the other ladies that helped with the shower, made delicious food and planned some fun activities for the shower, and my mom and i had a great time decorating the house and making the cake. we were really pleased with the way everything turned out:
{these bottle vases were so easy, and they were a fun addition to the table. mom and dad drank the wine [ ;) ], i painted on the digits of the wedding date in gold acrylic paint, we added some flowers, and then set them up on a tray i got in the dollar section of target.}
{i made this little sign from an old chalkboard i had. the chalkboard pen is washable, but i kiiiiiiiinda like it so much that i don’t want to erase it yet!!}
{we had everyone write down date night suggestions for brittni and robbie on corks, which they were instructed to drop into this little decorative cork holder that we gave to the couple as a gift.}
{not gonna lie – mom and i were so proud of the four layer almond cake with berries that we made. it felt festive and really tasted good too.}
{we borrowed mimi’s eiffel tower cork holder and had everyone guess how many corks were in it.}
{pretty punch!}
{katrina made these adorable favors with chocolate inside.}
{mom made brittni’s and robbie’s initials using old corks for decoration and then gave them to brittni afterward…didn’t these turn out sooo cute?!}
{i love the “year of firsts” idea for a bridal shower…carole put this fun gift together. the poems were so sweet and i think it’s fun to commemorate some of these things that will happen AFTER they’re married.}
{i wish i hadn’t used such a large aperture on this one since brittni is unfortunately blurred out. :( still a cute photo of the bride and her mama though.}
{the shower hostesses with brittni: my mom, katrina, and carole. katrina made this adorable reversible apron… one side was made of wine fabric and said “brittni” on the top and the other side was made of beer fabric and had robbie’s nickname for her on the top! and then they safety-pinned all sorts of random useful wine-themed items on the front, and we played the game where she walks around the room for a couple minutes and then people have to write down as many items from the apron as they can remember. whoever remembers the most items gets a prize! and she gets to keep all the items afterwards. it was such a great idea!}
{brittni with her cousin and her grandmother}
{brittni’s family. lovely ladies!}
britt, we so enjoyed getting to celebrate you, and we’re super excited for the wedding! you’re going to make a beautiful bride! xoxo
