continuing on with our lovely little 4th of july weekend in deadwood…
{we got to see a beautiful rainbow one evening.}
{sawyer and finn are just toooooo cute!}
{jamie’s parents were so sweet to rent a pontoon boat on pactola lake for the day. jamie wasn’t feeling well in the morning, so the two of us joined the group a little later, but i’m glad we could because it was such a beautiful lake to boat on.}
{the water was an absolutely gorgeous color.}
{i love that photo on the right. uncle jamie and his precious, busy nephews!}
{these canadian geese loved us because they were getting fed.} ;)
{i just can’t get over that teal water!}
{mom and her babies on the tube! they were brave, because that water was COLD. like crazy cold for a texas girl!!}
{i never knew how beautiful south dakota was!}
{storms coming}
{i’m glad we got to enjoy some nice weather, because later on in the afternoon a storm blew through so we docked up and left. it actually hailed [!], so we’re glad we weren’t out on the lake at that time.}
{when the sun came back out we got some pictures together by the lake.} :)
{s’mores outside on the patio. marshmallow faces are my favorite!}
{that night, we shopped a little in downtown deadwood and just checked out the town.}
{this is the old franklin hotel… supposedly it’s haunted!}
{saloon #10… we had a lot of fun here on one of the previous nights, haha [see part 1!!]}
{i loved the history of deadwood. it truly was a wild, wild west town!}
{not my best booty day.} ;)
{and then the following day, july 4, we had to say goodbye and head home. on the way, jamie and i took a little detour so i could see mount rushmore, since i’d never been. on the way, we saw two mountain goats! lots of wildlife on this trip… besides the mountain goats, we saw pronghorns, elk, a whole field of about 300 deer, mountain goats, and a coyote just casually walking along the side of the road!}
{mount rushmore! it was so cool to see this in person.}
{the texas flag and the south dakota flag just happened to be hung on the same post, so we had to get a photo!}
{this was an awesome way to spend the 4th of july!}
{adventuring and traveling with my man is my favorite.}
{noble faces of the past.}
{see ya next time, george!}
{we stopped in keystone, SD on the way back for lunch. another little wild west town!}
{all decked out for the 4th.}
what a wonderful trip with jamie’s family in an area of the country that i’d never been to! i have a whole new appreciation for south dakota. thank you SO much to jamie’s family for the amazing visit! i enjoyed getting to know all of you better. xoxo
