i’m soooooo behind on posting, but at the very beginning of june, jamie’s friend walker and his girlfriend krista came to colorado for the weekend and we got to hang out with them for a couple days. i met them for the first time when they came down to dallas for new years eve [what a great night!], and they are such a fun couple! and both really wonderful people. i was very happy to spend some time with them and get to know them better, and we’re SO glad they came. we had such a great time breakfasting, going for a hike at eldorado canyon, and going out together that night. here are a few pics from the weekend:
{we all met for dinner + drinks at root down on friday night, along with jamie’s friend dave… i was unfortunately late due to work issues, but i eventually made it just in time for a drink, and not to make a short story longgggg, but there is a funny anecdote that goes with this drink. i saw the coconut ginger fizz on the dinner menu and thought it looked really good, but i noticed that it wasn’t alcoholic – it just had ginger, lime, coconut milk, and sparkling water. and don’t get me wrong, i’m not opposed to non-alcoholic… but let’s just say that it was a friday night after a long day [week] of work and i was ready for a drink, so i decided on the coconut gin fizz, which was on their drink menu and was basically the same drink, only it substituted gin and prosecco for the sparkling water. and THEN, i was reminded of this time i had gone out with some friends a few months before and ordered two drinks at dinner which i thought contained alcohol, and i said after i drank them that i was “feeling pretty good” from the cocktails, upon which my friends, quite amused that i had just told them this, informed me that the drinks i had gotten didn’t have any alcohol in them. totally burst my bubble, and also made me [us] laugh hysterically for like an hour. anyway, i told this story to the group and we all laughed about it, and then i made sure to order the alcoholic version of the drink… and a few minutes later, they brought out the drink in the picture above, i tasted it, and it was delicious… only to have the bartender run over a few minutes later, grab the drink away from me and put a similar-looking drink in a taller glass in front of me, apologizing because the one i had been drinking was the non-alcoholic version. our whole table DIED laughing, because i had just told that story. weird coincidence and apparently i have an issue with detecting non-alcoholic drinks?! haha.}
