trying to catch up as usual! in april, we celebrated noelle’s 30th birthday, hiked to the royal arch and tried lots of different beers when mike visited, had an amazing easter weekend, and explored the continental divide and breckenridge when linda and noel visited. a lot of fun things! the bummer is that i was sick for most of april, and jamie was sick for a couple weeks in april too… and then i was sick for basically all of may… and then in the last week of may, i found out that i had walking pneumonia, hence the two months of upper respiratory probs, but i’m [finally!] healthy as can be now. :) it’s pretty unusual for me to be under the weather so i was definitely wondering what the heck was wrong, but now we. are. good! here are some of the in-betweens of april:
{first up, not to talk about the weather here alllllll the time, but i can’t get over spring in denver. how can it snow one day and be warm enough to lay out by the pool in a swimsuit the next? i’m not complaining though because i kinda love it!}
{this is at biju’s little curry shop, a local gem in my little neighborhood.}
{i’m reallyyyyy happy that i have a boyfriend who will take a walk with me in my neighborhood and pass by a place and say to me, “you wanna stop in to try some curry?” i love that he’s not afraid of food… we must be meant to be.} ;)
{glad that we tried this place on whim!}
{alsoooo, we sat outside on this nice night. it was a fun little adventure.}
{on the left, jamie’s sister hope got him this cool little chalkboard french press for his birthday! so we had to write her a little message. and on the right, this is jamie’s plate, but i love the breakfasts he makes for us. for this breakfast, he put whipped cream in our coffee!}
{taking pictures on the rooftop just for fun!}
{we’re serious about weekending.}
{on the left, one valuable thing that came out of being sick is that i perfected a ginger maple honey hot toddy recipe – it’s my own version to cure whatever ails you: peel and thinly slice some fresh ginger, add maybe 8ish slices to 1-1/2 cups boiling water, let boil for 10 minutes. reduce heat to low, add juice from 1 lemon, a tiny bit of apple cider vinegar, a drizzle of honey, a drizzle of maple syrup, and a shot of tennessee honey whiskey. strain into a cup, garnish with a lemon slice and sip, preferably while dressed in something cozy. on the right, squid ink pasta with pork belly from a dinner date with noelle at one of my favorite pasta places, dio mio!}
{my cute mother dear and my baby brother shiner.}
{and speaking of pups, there’s a throwback of me on the left [i think i was about to turn 4] with my favorite stuffed dog spot. AND our sweet little lucky boy’s third grade school portrait! i die!} ;)
{this city.}
{the colorado flag will never be as cool as the texas flag, BUT it’s growing on me.} :)
{i’ve been dreaming about having nights like this since noelle bought her place. rosé on the rooftop is the best ever!}
{…and this was dinner! soooo good.}
{a couple more from her rooftop because it’s freaking amazing.}
{i love the string lights.}
{a picture of my cute brothers… that i stole off FB because i wasn’t with them.} :(
{chalk art in rino…}
{…and i’m pretty sure that this is what the artist was drawing!}
{yummy arepas + plantains from will call across the street from me.}
{i can’t believe he and i used to go 3 weeks without seeing each other. now we can’t go 3 days! i’m glad those long distance days are over.}
thanks for reading, friends! xoxo
