it’s that time of the week again… last week, my challenge was to try to speak more slowly, thoughtfully, and confidently and to try to avoid using the word “like” [specifically at work]. as you know, these aren’t the types of things you can just fix overnight [especially the “like” habit], but i did work on them this week, with some success. my meeting with our senior VP went really well, as did my presentation to the distribution partner on our produce safety program. although i was quite pleased with the outcome on both, i felt like i spoke better during the meeting with our VP than the presentation to our distribution partner. there were one or two times during the presentation in which i felt like my brain was moving faster than my mouth, and it kind of messed me up and made me stumble over my words. it’s just practice, i suppose. i’m going to continue to work on it!
this week is going to be extremely busy as i get ready for a trip to europe. i need to get some stuff ready at work for my absence, get caught up on blogging [at least most of the way], do laundry, pack, and still find the time to exercise. i know we just did the ab challenge recently [and it didn’t actually go as well as i would have liked, ha], but this week, i’d like to do another fitness-related challenge: i’m going to run four times this week. in theory, i don’t think of this as a huge challenge because i usually try to run at least three times a week, but it’s honestly been hard to be consistent about it lately. some weeks, i’ll do really well, but especially if things are busy, i’ll skip a workout here or there. with anticipation of this week being busy, i’m not planning on killing myself, but going on four runs this week [even if they’re short-ish] is a good goal to set, i think. on my trip to europe, i’m not even planning on bringing running shoes, because 1.) i’m trying to pack light, 2.) we’ll be doing plenty of walking, and 3.) i know that realistically i’m not going to want to work out when i’ll be busy all day sightseeing and taking pictures, and then i’ll want to relax and catch up on emails and edit photos during my down time. so this week, i’ll try to do my body good and fit in some exercise. for those of you like me who aren’t fitness overachievers, join me if you’d like!
{i’ve been dogsitting lucky the whole weekend and i’ve loved every minute of it. wish he wasn’t going home tomorrow!}
