on our drive up the californian coast, we had all sorts of fun and adventures with the california avocado commission, learning all about one of the best fruits known to man – avocados! on thursday morning, we arrived at our final destination, monterey, just in time to attend the PMA foodservice conference.
we stayed at casa munras, which was lovely and convenient to the hotels where the conference events were held. the conference was so much fun, and we always learn a lot from all the meetings we attend. plus there are so many breakfasts, happy hours, dinners, and parties. we definitely gave our best attempt at making the rounds and attended as many events as time would allow.
we also ran in a 5k, went on some field tours, met loads of wonderful people, and ate tons of produce. no, there wasn’t a shortage of produce, nor a shortage of creative ways to use it in every kind of dish or snack or treat you might want, from beverages and popsicles to main dishes and sides and desserts. it was glorious. i only wish that i had taken more food photos!
{monterey}
{i couldn’t get over all the gorgeous blooms at casa munras.}
{a delicious dinner at the c restaurant, right on the water, with jan & peggy from the CAC}
{lettuce fields}
{strawberry fields forever…}
{there’s nothing like a fresh-picked strawberry}
{on the left, a regular strawberry, and on the right, a pineapple strawberry! yup, you read that right! [hence the yellowish color.] it was SO. GOOD.}
{the arcadian lettuce fields look so lush and beautiful. i couldn’t stop taking photos!}
{check out that leaf. how gorgeous is that?!}
{a view of monterey}
{there was literally a party bus to get to one of the parties, which was up in the hills.}
{you can’t tell by these photos because it’s so dark, but we were towards the top of a little mountain. when we got there, the sun had just set and the sky was so pretty.}
{a [blurry] avocado pop at the conference show.}
can’t wait to do this portion of the trip again soon! see you in two weeks, monterey! and thank you again for the AMAZING avocado learning adventure, california avocado commission!
