on the weekend of christmas, my entire family on my dad’s side was kind enough to fly to colorado to celebrate christmas with me [and jamie too!]. i didn’t take any days off at christmas [besides christmas day, which we got off], and kenny, the supervisor that reports into me, is THE best guy, has a wife, a nine-year-old, and a three-year-old, and has never had any days off during christmas besides christmas day in all of his career. he is such a hard worker and never complains, so i let him have the entire week of christmas off plus the friday before. he so deserves it.
anyway, it made it difficult to go anywhere on christmas weekend, so i was so very thankful that my family came up to celebrate with me. in fact, nama got us all a gorgeous log cabin in the mountains of breckenridge to stay at for that weekend [and the week of christmas, for those that didn’t have to go back to work]. everyone made great efforts to get to colorado so we could all see each other [and it definitely was a challenge to get all our schedules together], and THEN we were driving through snowstorms for hours to get up to breck and aunt cindy and uncle jim’s rental car didn’t make it up the hill in our neighborhood to the cabin we were staying at!!! jamie shuttled them up… thank goodness he has a giant truck! anyway, everyone’s efforts were greatly appreciated.
every part of my christmas this year was very hygge… :) [if you don’t know what that means, check out this post!] ;) …it was extremely cold and snowy in breck so we honestly mostly stayed in, playing games and sitting by the fire. some of the highlights of the weekend were hot tubbing with a view of the snowy mountains, doing a little shopping in downtown breck, and having an awesome dance party one night!! here are some photos if you’d like to see:
{after a long journey, we made it to the cabin!}
{it was a cute place and PERFECT for our size of family.}
{playing code names. this is such a fun game!}
{this was hilarious. while we were playing games and ping-pong, they were buried deep in their electronics. definitely not typical for them though!!}
{good morning, mountains!}
{jamie and i were the first the brave the hot tub…}
{…but the others weren’t far behind!}
{uncle jim was throwing snowballs at us in the hot tub and ryan was catching them!!}
{this was a blast!}
{lovely ladies in lace at lunch!}
{i’m so happy that jamie got to join us at our family christmas this year!}
{definitely a cold, clear, wintery day!}
{the whole group, with the exception of dad. poor dad had to fly and couldn’t make it in until christmas day.}
{missing daddy-o!}
{breck}
{a cute storefront}
{mountains}
{cute downtown breckenridge after christmas eve mass}
{hanging out}
{dinner together!}
{warming up by the fire… i think jamie’s the only person i’ve ever met who wears shorts in below zero weather.}
{the newly engaged couple!}
{nama and her grands}
{…and here with her adopted grands too!} ;)
{the most fun dance party ever!!}
{i’m dreaming of a white christmas…}
{mike’s first time using a snow blower had to be documented!} ;)
{i had never seen this much snow in my life!}
{on christmas day, mom, jamie, mike, priscilla, and i drove back to denver, picked up dad from the airport, and spent the evening at my house celebrating christmas, just the six of us. it was the only time we could all six be together to celebrate, as jamie and i had to go to work the next day and priscilla and mike were flying home. luckily, dad and mom went back up to breckenridge so dad could spend more time with his family. also. this was my attempt at a christmas table but it looks more like mismatched patriotic. i need to work on my table decorating skills. maybe someday i’ll grow up and learn to match!}
{waffles with whipped cream, chocolate chips, and strawberries are our present-opening tradition! jamie was sweet enough to let us borrow his waffle maker.}
{YUM!}
i took photos of our family christmas with just the six of us on my nikon, so i will be posting those soon. THANK YOU AGAIN to everyone for coming to visit me in colorado – you guys are the best. and thank you nama for renting out the lovely cabin so we could gather there! i love you all so much! xoxo
